I got a couple of headliner questions, maybe someone can help. After I took down the old one I noticed the front center roof rail(brace),has seperated from the roof.I don't think it's supose to be like this, right? When I try to push it back in place,it's not easy to do.It takes some force so I don't know how I'm going to get it to stay up against the roof, any ideas?I don't know how this could have happened.I'm thinking maybe with it being originally a vinyl top car, perhaps when they beat the top down it loosened :Do No: ? Also the two front bows didn't have the plastic tabs to hold the bow in place.I'm sure they should be there, can they be ordered?Looks as if the headliner was never done. Here's some shots, please tell me what you think.Thanks,Tom.

That brace is bent from someone standing on or jumping on the roof panel(probably). You could probably glue it with liquid nails and prop it up for a day or two. Clips are easily avail from parts cars, upholstery shops, year one, etc.

Be aware/wary, beware of free advice.

I'm thinking a tack weld or three might also help.

maybe a light tap with a chisel or wide flat bladed screwdriver RIGHT ON THE TIP of the bent area also to tweak the metal brace back into its proper shape. In your pic you can see where the "peak" of the bend or tweaked area is....this needs to be "relieved" somewhat(reshaped closer to its original shape) otherwise this piece will be pulling against the glue all the time and might work loose again.

I see what your talking about Patton.I'll give it a try,but it's close to the middle cross brace so it wont be easy.If the bend was more toward the middle that might work.Do you know what kind of material is glued to the roof? Should I glue right to it or should I scrape it off?I figure I'll glue it with JB Weld and support it overnight with a 2x4 from the cieling to the floor. With my luck latley I'll find the 2x4 through the floor in the morning. :Dou:
