Heads and Head Gasket install tips

    Anybody got tips or tricks for 455 iron head and
    head gasket install. Do the bolts need thread lock,etc..

    i use gaskanich on the gasket surfaces and moly lube on the bolts for proper torque specs. Thats about it.

    Be sure all the gasket surfaces are spotless. I like laquer thinner to clean them.

    I use motor oil on the bolt threads and under the bolt heads.

    Torque the bolts in 3 increments per the tightening sequence.

    I will run the car to operating tempreture and let cool for 24 hours.

    I then retorque all the bolts again, even if you use the Permatorque gaskets that say you do not have to retorque.
