Does anyone have a set or know where they can be found? Checked most of the Header Mfg Co and am coming up empty. Anybody know who carries them? I was told Poston might. But I can find nothing from them as to Headers for the 300. Just pulled the engine for ebuild and now would be the time to get them if anyone can tell me where.....ray:
My understanding from guys here is if you clean up the ports a little on the stock manifolds they will flow like headers.
Someone just started a thread in the last week about a company starting to make these headers. Real soon.
The search feature is a wonderful thing, no? Everyone should try it! http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=160145 Devon
Devon; That's why I go back and delete my old post's.Nobody goes back and reads them. You write up a good post about how to fix something and the same question comes up Three Months later and the whole cycle starts up again. The Search work's so much better. PONCH
Hey Ponch, if you delete your old posts then people like me can't get to good info from the past....just leave 'em! I've learned tons from the years of good dialogue in here. Devon
Devon, If you read anything that I wrote, you're more hard up than Jersey Joe!!  Sorry Joe, I couldn't pass that one up! PONCH:spank:
Well for the benifit of anyone's doubt, here's what I wrote a few Years ago. I have a 300 in my Skylark. Just about everything is ported. The exaust manifolds are ported and port matched to the ports on the head. I got rid of the heat crossover butterfly and ground in a 45* angle to accept an exaust donut like the drivers side. On each port I went inside and took out as much metal I could. The bolt bosses have a lot of metal in the way. When I ground them down,I angled them toward the outlet. Grind the outlet out as much as you can also. You'll probably end up with about a pound or so of cast iron. Be sure to use a shop vac while you are grinding. Also be sure and leave your cell phone in the house. Don't ask me why, just do it. You'll be suprised at the results. The manifolds flow well and will save you a few hundred bux. Plus you'll keep the stock look. I'm in the middle of installing a 350 in my car. The exaust manifolds don't look to flow very well, but nobody makes headers to fit this swap. I'm almost done with the heads and the manifolds are next. I know it's a bad time of the year to do this but I had other things to do. I also have a 425 and 455 to install but the 350 goes in for now. Eventually the 425 will be a permanent fixture under the hood. I just gotta tear it down and work it over. I hope this helps. I'll leave this up here but I bet there will be the same question asked next Spring. PONCH
You're probably right... Just an FYI, if you start to get carried away and decide you can't live without headers, check these guys out in Taylor, MI: www.watsoneng.com There are no full length headers out there for my car, either...but that didn't slow them down one bit. http://home.comcast.net/~shinzan/headers2.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~shinzan/headers3.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~shinzan/headers4.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~shinzan/headers5.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~shinzan/headers6.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~shinzan/headers7.jpg Devon
I bought a set of headers for my 65 Lark from Poston Buick parts. part #709773 $329.00 They fit very nice.
That's the same set that I have (Poston Headers) that go with my 66 Skylark when I eventually find a buyer. If you want to see what they look like check out my YouTube video by doing a search under Poston Headers or my user name of aboonski. I bought mine several years back and just never used them.
