What headers will fit in here!!!??? 455 in 64 skylark
There is a little more space than the photo shows! The manifold is not touching the steering shaft any where, all though it looks like it is because of the angle and being in only one dimension. Does a left hand drive car with this motor suffer the same problem?

Maybe TA shorty headers, Check with them.

This might be a stupid reply, but if you have to, you can use beefy u-joints and route the steering shaft away. I have seen a couple V8 S-10 Chevy trucks with modified steering shafts.

Thanks guys! I had looked at the other threads on headers, but couldn't find anything relevent to my application. Some of the headers in the threads had to be modified, dented etc to get them in to what appeared to be full size cars.!!!.
What I need is some dimensions of the TA shorty setup

John I hadn't thought of going that route....I have seen it used on "tight fit" hot rods with those borgeson?? type of unis' and shafts mounted through bearings in a bracket...something like that, may work, I'll have to weigh up the advantages of headers to stock manifolds and the work involved in my Skylark as two of my other present cars run headers and one of those is always giving me grief with leaks and cracks !!!!

    Australia quesiton

Do cars down under still have the gas/clutch/brake pedals on the same side, or are they reverse as well? It would be so weird to drive a stick, shifting with the left hand & clutchin' it with the right foot.

YES foot action is the same, right foot accelerator to the left is your brake and left again is the clutch. The parking brake is on the right above the kick panel...so really the only difference is changing gears with your left hand, its no hassle really. I've driven left hand drive cars and have no problem jumping from one to the other!!

I think it will be interesting what the hot rodders from down under and elsewhere can do with some of the "drive and steer by wire" technology that is emerging.

I would like to try driving someday a right hand drive GS.
It seems so cool to see a GS with the dashboard reversed!
