I have a question that most of you might not know, but any help would be greatly appreciated:grin:

As some of you know I'm swaping a 455 buick into my '79 Trans Am:grin: and I want to use headders. A friend on this board is offering me , for a price, long tube headders that used to be in his '68 GS and he said they fit but tight with little ground clearence. Their Kennne~bell headders.

Now, poston sells headders that claim to fit into '70-81 camaro and firebirds with no problems. Their actually for other buick models but will fit into a trans am. Postons catolog says they fit " '64-'77 GS,GSX,Skylark,Special,Centry, Regal,Sport Wagon and Estate Wagon, '78-'87 Regal, T-type and GN, '71-'76 Rivera"
Then they go on saying "Also fits '70-'81 camaro and firebirds with 400 430 and 455 buick engines". Does any one know for sure?

If all of those Poston headders fit into a trans am should'nt the ones from the '68 GS fit, although their Kenne-bell made or whatever?I just dont want to end up with a pair of headders that I cant use, Ya know:Dou: Any help, Thanks much ~ VINNY

If in doubt, resort to Hooker's custom header set-up that claims to fit anyhing.
Well, about the long-tube kenne-bells, I wouldn't be too sure. The Poston was probably made with the F-Body's in mind, or maybe it was just coincidence that it fit and they happen to point out that it did b/c they probably tried it. If it is just coincidence, the F-body and A-body probably just need the same bends at the same places that might ultimatly result in the fitting of the headders in both vehicles. Wait, this last statement reminds me, the F-body and A-body had the exact same front end frams. If you observe, the F-body car is the vehicle that caused the nickname "subframe". it is the only vehicle that has a "real" sub-frame, Mustangs and other unibodies only have a framed crossmember, not a subframe, the name was product of the invention of the F-body. The F-body's front end was just a chopped-off front A-body with a unibody. This means that most likely, the headders will fit both vehicles just fine.

Thanks! I checked out a picure the Kenne-bell headders and compared them to the Poston headders and It looks like Poston is the WINNER!!! They look like they'll fit any body.
