    my heads are at the shop i am getting a bowl job done on the heads for bigger vaves is that the same as gringing the valve seats if it isn't could you explain the difference.

    I think everyone's definition of what is what can vary, but a bowl job refers to work done in the section of the port located directly behind the valve (i believe it's referred to as the 'bowl', hence the term bowl job), not on the valve seat itself.

    Like I said, it can vary, but I think a basic bowl job generally involves removing casting flash from the bowl, smoothing the transition from the bowl the to valve seat and maybe even cutting down the valve guide a little bit. In your case, with the valve (and valve seat) being enlarged, the bowl must be enlarged to match, otherwise the larger valves probably won't do too much.
