Head porting question for 401-425

  1. I am getting ready to take my heads to a local head porting Guru and have some questions. my car is a 66 GS 4 speed with no A/C and no power brakes or steering. I have stock compression and a camshaft with 232* duration at .050 and a 109 lobe center with .466 net valve lift. i have a q jet intake and a holley 800 cfm spreadbore double pumper carb. i have a recurved distributor with Crane conversion and high energy coil. I have TA 1 3/4 - 3" headers with 2 1/2 inch mandrel bent exhaust. tranny is a stock 66 GS T 10 and a 3.36 posi rear. heres the question. will having the heads ported for max flow (250 cfm intake and 190 exh) hurt my street manners and torque much? this fellow has a wet flow bench and has had great success with the Buick heads. Thanks for any and all opinions even if they are not positive.

Keep in mind that my engine is stock now and ALL these parts will be getting installed in the next couple weeks. Bob G

    Bob,

Take a look at this thread. Greg Gessler answers your question toward the end, but the whole thread is worth reading.
