It looks like it is actually 3.89. I'll rerun it and see what that gets me.

That puts me at 7.56 DCR

So the builder is asking for order of the rods to be put in could anyone remember what year they came out of. I can't find the post at all. The Pistons rods and arp capscrews were from user cgarb

It would actually be stamped on the connecting rod? Sorry for the stupid question but I'm not at the shop now and I can't look at them. I did find the service manual that shows a the boss points forward and the side of the oiling spurt (sp) determines the six the assembly goes on. Is that enough info? And the torque spec is 55 ft lbs which I got from arp's site

So it's the right side oil hole up toward center of motor and boss forward and left oil hole up toward center of motor and boss rearward. 55 ft. Lb torque.

Alright. Finally got the heads back last night. Took them to the shop this morning. He was not pleased with how long it took to get them. He's got the block all put together and painted all pretty and such.

He said the block and crank was in like new condition when they started cleaning it up which makes me happy. I got adjustable pushrods due to recommendation from the head porter.

Shop says he may be able to get it put together and ready to run next week. I'm very nervous.

Now an issue with firing it up. Said he put the new dist. In went to fire it up seemed OK for a second then I think it backfired. They checked timing and it was off. So they reset again and just turned over by hand and it was off again. He's gonna try the old dist. To see if that was the issue. I don't expect it is. He also thinks it might be the timing chain which I don't think it is either it's a comp cams timing chain. Would you guys have any ideas?

It could be the cam gear. Fuel pump eccentric then distributer drive gear. Or distributer gear is for big block on distributer.

That's what I heardd could happen, so he's gonna try the old one. I hope that's it. I'll mention gear order if he calls again.

Good. Kinda think its going to be the gear from distributer. Old distributer should work fine.

Turns out it was the wrong gear on the distributor. So he swapped that and it's all good. Have an issues with the valley pan gasket leaking so he is gonna get that fixed up next week. Said it runs like a dream though. So that makes me happy.

After what seemed like years it's finally home. Had some issues with the intake gasket but that got all fixed up this week and she's running pretty well. There's a slight stumble if I get on it, so that's something I'll have to tweak. Thinking the timing is just a little off. Hoping it's not the fuel pump.

They recommended getting a different fan with more blades. I was looking around and a few have said a stock 7 blade fan with a clutch works pretty well. Any advice/thoughts on that or where I can get one that will fit?

Thanks again everyone for all of your help. I don't think it would've gone as well without all of the input. I don't even think I bought parts that I didn't use.
