head or intake problems 70 350

    alec296 i need another buick

    i have a 70 gs 350 that was recently rebuilt . the intake runners get really hot very fast(before rest of motor)no power ,7-8 in of vacuum,somke out left exhaust and now i see water in oil. do the 70 heads crack often?where?could this be wrong gaskets(heads or intake)?i am using a ta intake with felpro gasket.

    Hate to tell you this but you need to remove the engine and do a complete tear down. Sounds like someone did not assemble the engine correctly or you had a part(s) go bad. Could be blown head gaskets, cracked heads or cracked block. Excessive heat means excess friction.

    The core engine I just had built came with a cracked head. Some folks blame the malfuntioning heat riser valve which connects the longer manifold to the exhaust pipes. This valve, over years of wear, gets stuck in the closed position. This may cause problems with the head.

    FYI - my engine was from a 70 Skylark with about 75K on it.
