Finished pulling the engine down to the short block and now have an idea of what engine my car has in it.

Block is marked SF indicating it is out of a full sized 1970 model. Casting 1231738
Pistons are marked .040 on the top. Inside the Skirt B 528 is cast into them. Believe these are Keith Black Hypereutectic piston. They have a sizeable dish like factory. Anyone know what compression these are?
Cam is marked PE GS 118. Poston cam? From what I can find, it does not appear this is the best for a street driven car. Currently have a stock stall converter in the TH400. Plan to upgrade to something a little looser. When I purchased the car it had 2.56 gear, but that has been upgraded to 3.42. What are thoughts on this cam?
Heads are Casting 1231786, with standard size valves.

Oil pan has been worked on and a hole welded, so I assume the original engine threw a rod some time in the past. Plan to get a replacement as I put it all back together.

Any constructive comments or suggestions appreciated. Thanks!

The 118 is a great street cam,..there are better more modern grinds now but if its in good shape I would run it.

Mill the heads .010 as I'm sure the have probably been cut b4

Cut the block to leave the pistons .020 in the hole. Your current compression is probably around 8.8 to 1,...you can maybe get it to 9.6 or so

Get new stainless valves with undercut stems
Good 3 or 5 angle valve job

You should have close to 400hp

Converter I would maybe go with a 11in 2800 stall
