Have antique car prices skyrocketed or WHAT?

I just looked up my '63 Electra convertible with factory air on the NADA site and I was SHOCKED at what I saw! It hasn't been that long ago that I looked and the high price was around $18,000, and now it's just over $26,000. Surely this can't be right??? I never put a lot of stock in any price guides, but something had to have changed to cause this price guide to take HUGE jump like that!

WOWOW !!!! I never knew those 6 cyl's were bringing in the HUGE Bux !!!

Imagine what a 6 cyl with 3 speed column shift would bring !!

  3. Yes, values have gone thru the roof the past few years. When I bought my 68 3 years ago, I insured it with Hagerty for the same price I paid for it. Today, I have it insured for double that amount, no questions asked from Hagerty.

You're absolutely right. Prices have gone crazy. Not just for GSs and other muscle cars, but everything of the collectible nature. That's why we say "Appraise and redo your Agreed Value insurance at least every 2 years".
The last thing you want is Granny or some kid in a ricer to hit you and find out you're not properly covered.

I've looked at the NADA site quite I bit, and it always seems higher than what it should be. IE. Maybe a Classic car dealer can get 7375 for an average retail price for a Riv with a 455 (as opposed to the one without it 6050 go figure?) But I know that the average guy will be hard pressed to get that.
