Has anyone here ever taken apart a trumpet horn before?

I bead blasted one of my 4 note horns today, and noticed a rivet is missing. Also, there is a space where the two halves have seperated in that spot. I can't tell if that's a gasket inbetween there or white corrosion and I don't want to ruin this part by trying to fix it. It works as is, but there is an open space there where moisture (and prolly some glass beads) could get in.

My question is, is that a gasket and what can I expect to happen once I drill out the rivets? I plan on replacing them with screws and making a new gasket somehow. Any ideas? Anyone ever done this before? Thanks in advance...... :Do No:

It's a gasket, but it's a really thin little guy. I took mine apart and made it work...a little.

I sent it to Patsusedparts and he got it to work well! PM him for more info. I gave up after a short while, since I got impatient and it was a little above my head. I can see if I can find the horn rebuild pages I dug up a while back..

Post a picture of the whole horn if you can. I still think I have one lying around. Let me match it up.

Taking this apart really wasn't bad at all.......the hardest part will be making the gasket. I'm quite surprised at how clean this was inside: :Brow:

I just figured something out......Gabriel's horn is actually threaded into the flange and secured with loctite:

So if I have a broken horn, I clean the contacts to make it work again? Can you change the pitch of the horn by turning that little screw?

The ptich does not change, but the volume does. There is such a thing as "going too far" with the screw, too...as you can burn up the contacts. Everything should be outlined in those links I provided.
