Bringing up an old style thread topic, as I know many here participate We are driving south to warmer weather all the way to Ossining NY for the Northeast party 6.5 hours south. We will also be representing Kenny Betts Racing at the party with a few give aways for 2 lucky people. Looking forward to seeing some of you there. Tomorrow we meet a family from Philadelphia that has to surrender their Springer due to life changes. We will be fostering Ella to adopt if all goes well. A picture of Ella tri-color English Springer Spaniel. Have a great weekend.
Springers are great dogs! Gonna tinker with and possibly get the Stage 1 out for a drive. And it's time to remove the cushions from our deer stands. Also need to help the in-laws reconnect their VCR.
I'll be heading out to clear the overnight snow from driveways and sidewalks. Waiting for a guy to pick up the range we have on CL. Then shave/shower and head out for groceries. We may attend, if not cancelled, Greatgrandkids indoor soccer games. Dinner tonight with cousin and wife.
Have two black and white springers, fun mutts! Working on the golf game this morning like most Saturday’s. Tomorrow we will continue working on my pals 68 Rag 4 gear GTO overhaul.
I’m working at work. Got a call at 5 AM asking me to cover an emergency manhole job where they have to remove asbestos insulated cable to allow for new ones. I run air samples. It’s 19 degrees out. Fun. I get the crappy weekend hours because my company chooses to give all the regular hours to the young kids they pay less. You know how that crap works.
Ive got a grizzly 4 wheeler to throw some parts at for my cousin. He uses it hard for his sugar operation. Then with luck i can continue rebuilding the scout..
If it gets above 30, I've got some beater upgrades to do in the driveway. Going to a Hell's Belles concert tonight (Google them if you don't know who they are). Snowmobiling tomorrow.
Gotta finish redoing and rerouting some of my ductwork. Then “hopefully” I can organize my basement so I can knockout a few small projects. I’ve got a couple of Honda ATCs that need some attention and then I’ll get to my 73’ Scout II. I’ve set a goal of driving it on July 4th. At 5pm we’re supposed to meet a lady that’s buying our old kitchen table and chairs, wife have it advertised on fb I think. Maybe a meal somewhere after that. Mark Hey 436’d Skylark, Thats A Cool Scout!!
Waiting for parts to put the guts of the Buchev's passenger door back together. I took it apart to do a clean and lube job - the power door lock would lock but not unlock, and the window would only go up with help and would go down at about half a snail's pace. All the plastic clips fell apart and I'm waiting for the new ones to arrive.
Today, hopefully I get to smell that sweet mixture of burning paint mixed with spent Sunoco Race Gas that only comes when you fire up an engine for the first time!! Its somewhat intoxicating to me.... In order to enjoy that reward I need to wire up a new wideband O2 sensor. Already welded the bung in the collector, installed the sensor and mounted the gauge. Next step is pouring in the race fuel to test my re-seal job of the leaking fuel pump and filter. It dried up from sitting I guess.... And finally....Putting in the oil then prime, time and fire up the 523 for the first time since refresh. As many of you can relate, It's been a long time in coming!!
Thanks. I'm almost done with it. It should be off to the body shop in a few weeks. I'm rebuilding a 196 to swap in place of the 152. You scout II guys have all the parts! Its hard to find 80/800 stuff.
Hey 463’d Skylark.... As you can see mine has a ways to go. Compared to the selection available to the 80 & 800 guys we do have it better. But compared to the Bronco, Blazer & FJ-40 guys we have next to nothing. I’ve found binderplanet.com to be a Massive help on parts and knowledge. My forum name on bp is the same as on here- less to try and remember. Mark
I lurk around on binder planet. Lots of info there. I didn't get much done on the scout but i finished the four wheeler up and I built a stand for my bench grinder. I was clamping it in the vise everytime I needed it. Real pain in the balls. I'm trying to make one improvement to the shop a weekend.
