Ok here goes... I recieved a 78 sunbird for free. I have a low milage buick 350 and trans setting out at the shop. I was thinking about puttng the 350 in the sunbird. My questions are:

    (1) anyone know the weight of a 78 sunbird?
    (2) Will a 350 set comfortably in the frame rails and clear the exaust manifolds
    (3) How much wider is the V6 (3.8) than a 350

    Thanks Yall :TU:

    1) About 2700-2800 lbs.

    2) Yes, from what I understand. I personally have not done this swap, but there was somebody on here awhile back that did the swap and was very happy.

    3) V6 is shorter, but apx the same width. They are both 90* V-type engines, with the V6 being based somewhat off the 350 (small block) Buick.

I say do it...don't forget the little deal I PM'd you about yesterday, you'll need that for sure!!

Thanks Brad for the info. The car comes with a motor and trans. (Non op 3.8 motor) from what I understand, is that the 350 will bolt in in the same location as the 3.8 because of similar mounting points. If the exhaust manifolds clear the frame I will be set.

About 2 years ago I considered buying a Monza that had a Buick 350 in it. the owner said that it was originaly a 3.8 V-6 and that the 350 droped right in using the original v-6 mounts and accesories bolted right up with no problems.
