ok... let me see if i can reply to a few here.. ya a hard thing to find that buick girl ... but hey, ya never know. Kyle.. Kylie.. ya its all cool... doubtful i'd ever even get a date if i tried :p but either way its cool just knowing there's a few of them out there too! and it'll be fun to meet her hopefully at salem. i definately can't complain at that :)

roberta... i haven't joined the BCA or the michigan chapter yet, but if i don't by the time you guys start racing i'm hoping you guys will allow me to come join ya, i'd like to head on out to milan this year sometime and get a few practice runs in so i don't get totally spanked if i end up racing kylie in salem LOL :)

apparently i can't hook ya up with the 4-door 4-speed stuff.. he doesn't have them.. so even if i did get lucky and get in that cool position of being friends with bill, you'll never get your goodies :) lol ... tough luck i guess otherwise i would've tried for ya anyhow :)

    Check this out!

I started a '65 Buick Wildcat Info web page to go with others, like the '70 Wildcat web page, '56 Buick web page for consolidating info on those cars on the BCA web at Other Links of Interest
So Wild Bill need your manuscript on the '65 pic-a-door 4 speed to link on there, get hot! RV

But I thought it was a GN, and why is the grass so green in Cornfield, IN, hasn't it snowed or just rained? OR is this an old picture from late summer, speaking of pictures, that rolled '65 Wildcat was way almost in the swimming pool, in your backyard, so it was a long time ago! RV

And now... for the rest of the story!

I guess you could call this "Sniping" of Hemmings Motor News. Back in the day, there was no e-bay. Only Hemmings Motor News and everybody had an equal chance to be the first caller on those rare parts. You could increase your odds of getting a part if you got in good with your mail lady. Needless to say she always got a Christmas present from me and a "Hi, how's your day". In return, she would look for the new Hemmings Motor News and as soon as she seen it she would deliver it to me before she started her regular route. Since I was on afternoons, I could usually get a call in before the rest of the guys got home to read their issues. Thats how i got the 65 Wildcat 4 door 4 speed. It came up in an add for sale in an ad for cars for sale. I got the first call and made arrangements to go get it in Denver, Colorado. The selling price was only $500.00, but I had to drive a 1000 mi to go get it. I had a kid(19) that helped me and I asked him if he wanted to go get it. We took off to get it between Christmas and New Years in my new '88 sportside pick up and car hauling trailer. We picked it up in Denver and stopped in Garden City, Kansas on the way back to pick parts at a big bone yard. We got quite a few nice parts and then decided to put some miles behind us before we stayed for the night. I had been driving 3-4 hours and decided to let my helper drive while I decided where we were going to stay. We were on interstate 70 in western Kansas heading East. There was about a 40 mile cross-wind out of the South and the pavement was very rain grooved. Scott (my buddy) had set the cruise on 65 and I was checking out the map. I could feel us going up a small hill and then when we got to the top the cruise backed off...... the trailer gave a little push and before I knew what happened we were sliding sideways down the interstate with the car strapped to the trailer doing barrel rolls behind us and coming up fast!!! The trailer and car smacked into my side of the pick-up and the whole mess went flying into the median. Well, here we were in Ellsworth,Kansas 750 miles from home with a mangled trailer and a crashed pick up truck. I wasn't leaving the car behind because the guys at the salvage yard had way too much interest in it when they finally got us off the highway. We spent 3 nights waiting for my buddy to come from Indiana with a car hauler to take the 4 speed home. I ended up selling my trailer for scrap for $200.00 ($1,800 new) and my buddy only charged me a dollar a mile back. I got the car back and couldn't find a nice 4 door to convert so I parted the car out. I still have the motor and it's for sale. Most of the other parts went to help other guys converting 'Cats to 4 speeds. It really hurts right now to know that it was 1 of only 2 cars produced... sure wished i would have saved that one!:Dou: If you cant tell i have my daughter here typing for me so if there are any mis-spellings here its because she hasnt been paying enough attention at school and too much on her cars! Peace WildBill!
(Hey guys...this is the daughter...find that car for pops and your mine!) haha..too bad you wont be able to! Peace out !:Brow:

hrm... *wandering off to find a 4-door 4-speed for bill*... i KNOW it has to be out there somewhere... hrm... i'll keep an eye out for the other ONE in my journey to find a stage-1 4-speed convert too... :)

nice story.. to bad your friend had to bust the car up for ya... what a pitty.. you'd have one of the rarest cars in the world if you still had it :) body shops today could probably have very easily fixed that damage to the car too.. should've hung onto it heh... ah well, such is life.. even my dad says he wishes he would've kept cars... including '69 chevelle's and firebirds and all kinds of cars i wish he had kept too :) he learned to drive in a '63 skylark... odd.. i learned to drive in a '72 skylark... :)

great story, glad to finally hear it! i think your daughter has the younger guys all interested now! i don't know.. that other guy up there, he looks like trouble! heh nice ride by the way!

Just a word of note that if any of you downloaded the 4-speed info for your own records, there's a mistake in the tabulations. Wouldn't want wrong info to get out into the public domain.

    Re: Check this out!

    That's a good idea Roberta!
You should probably add that the car was one of two DELUXE 4 DOOR HARDTOPS with 401+4 speed+a/c.

Ted's document shows that there were 12 Wildcat 4 doors made with 401+4 speed+a/c
    One was a Base Sedan,
There were 2 Deluxe 4 door hardtops,
Also 2 Deluxe 4 door sedans,
And 7 Custom 4 door hardtops.
