Did two car shows this weekend with my HS pal Richie, up to visit from Illinois. Starting to accumulate these things LOL...Got one yesterday for 1971 and newer "modified". Lost out Saturday to the 59 LeSabre. The old man was so excited he left his trophy on the picnic table behind his car. We returned it to the judges so they can call him. He just left about 5 minutes before us. DANG!.
So yesterday I drove Model T Craigs 1927 roadster to the show. but no trophy for him :( He had to compete with a strong field of other pre 30's high end jobs. Name thos Model T parts!!! My next job is gonna be an M-6 Five Ton truck. Similar to this but I want a 1970. this was a 1992. ws

A few more... A supercharged Auburn. Look at the wheel; theres a dual range on the wheel center. Its for "ratios". I don't know if that's for steering or for boost. The SC is gear driven off the cam just under the carb. Plus some more goodies... ws

Even this gangsta club showed up from Janesville. The gold caddy was bouncing so hard the spare off the continental kit jumps outa the holder... a grand applause was generated! The thug won a trophy! Then the Buick powered 1946 ford C/gasser in original patina, and street driven! ws

Thanks for the pics and congrats on the award Bill! Car looks GREAT...but the mud flaps...think about clear ones or attaching them with paper clips or something. IMHO they detract from your car. 'Course they will protect any Buicks following you down the road pretty well.

Last year Pat and I took the BAD LAD to Chicago for a funeral party and ran into an old friend of hers. The guy looks like Frankenstein, and of course races , ahem, dodges. It was 100F outside and no AC then and the first words outa GORTS mouth were, "Duhhh, whats with the mudflaps..." This guy is 6'2" and an IQ to match. I know they stand out but we run a lot of gravel county roads up here. Theres a contour edge profile to trim them down. A while back I was at a swap meet and there were a set of 1970 ish OEM BUICK mudflaps (I have a pair on the front) that the guy wanted $10 in the OEM package for. I was standing there thing and a guys walks up and whips out the 10 spot and walked away them. He who hesitates is lost.
I should pullem off and let some dodges follow me; well theyd be pretty darn far back hahaha... ws

Bill: Congrats on the award. I'm still waiting on my motor. I'm hoping JW can finally start the build this week. If I come across a set of Buick flaps, I'll pick them up for you.

Hey, Bill, I was running mudflaps on the Mustang for the same reasons you stated. When I went to the 18" wheels and tires, I couldn't stand looking at them anymore. I removed them and had clear bra (not nearly as exciting as it sounds) applied to the argent lower part of my car behind the front and rear wheels. You can't even tell it's there, and been 5 years with no rock chips. You could put it on from the lower body line down, and I doubt you'd ever even notice it on the car.

Thank 2X Geoff.. hope all is well! Cool Hand Luke... is that stuff out of a can or the gun? Kinda like a clear rhino coat? The king sized flaps came on the back of the car with some cute little Buick ones on the front (way less conspicuous) . ws

Gravel roads, huh? Hate them, myself. I knew zombies ran rampant in your area, so I thought maybe they were for that gooey stuff they throw up when you hit 'em! Bill...I'm a moron...what's a GORT?

Thank Jim... I enlarged it on the desktop and sure as heck, Its says "Dual Ratio" with an arrow pointing towards "LOAD; HIGH - LOW". Was that electric or hydraulic maybe on a 2 speed rear axle? I overheard the guy talking about the tires, and the speeds of the car that were attainable. The tires had a 50mph, 100% duty cycle, but after about 60 to what ever, they'd get hot (way back then) and have a tendency to blow out from heat. Something had to be done to each rim at the dealer to install new tires and it was like $500.00 each back then to guarantee the tires for high speed driving. I'm pretty sure I heard that part right since he did mention that for over $2000.00 back then you could buy a house which jives. Only problem in 1935 where was there enough highway to open her up for that long? Even in the 1950s maybe, but back then? (BTW, like yer pic on "whatcha look like" with the bulldog!) ws

Het Geoff!! Good to hear from you! Hope all is well in ATTICA (haha). Pats pretty geometric, altho kind of ASKEW, that's why she's always got an angle on things LOL. She is also an ANGEL (aren't they all? Well most are!) She spent the last few months helping a dear friend pass over the bridge from colon cancer that ended up everywhere. She was holding his hand when he took his last breath and is still helping keep his family together and making arrangements. She can go for 3 days without sleep usually before she collapses. I can finally get her to "tune up" with some meds and hit the old fart sack for a day to recharge. It near impossible to get anything by her, so I'm up front and she rarely says no. Her job is to run the house (worries if a bill gets paid late, as in 2-3 days early!) and lets me do what I want with toys and projects notwithstanding. Cars, bikes, boats, landscaping, etc. She raised 6 kids alone and has heard it all so I don't BS her. Her wings have gold trim with a few diamonds on the clasp. Definitely ANGEL FIRST CLASS! ws
