    Hi everybody,
I've been lurking here for about a week now and am amazed at all the knowledge that you all have about our favorite cars.

My 72 GS is currently at a body shop getting some minor dents and a few rust spots repaired and then it will get new paint. I am still undecided about the color (original is Cortez Gold) but am seriously considering Saturn Yellow. I will be installing a Rear Spoiler and would like have the GSX Stripes painted on the car. So far I have found a couple of sources for the Stencil set online and the price varies between $250 to $325. Is this about right or is there a less expensive alternative? Also, are there any websites that discuss the procedure for using the stencil set? My Paint guy seems very capable but I would hate to have him screw up the stencil set installation.
    Thanks, David

A less expensive method is the old way..... find a gsx... take a roll of tracing paper... trace the stripes off... mark the top of the fender and rear quarter as you go... put the tracings on your car... trace off.. tape line the stripes.
and paint the stripes on the car the way the orginal ones are....

When I had my cloner painted I got every possible angle picture of REAL GSX's that I could find. One of the premier places for these is here the GSX registry site. Most good paint guys would prefer to mask and paint it their own way instead of using stencils IMHO.

Thanks for the advice guys. I went to see my Paint guy today and gave him about 20 5 X 7 photos of GSX stripes on cars and he said "No Problem". I've seen his stripes on other cars (No GSX) and he has my complete confidence. The best part is that he is doing it for $200 extra including the red pin stripe.
    Thanks again, David

The assembly manual has a detailed measured drawing, (or as Norm would say, draring), best bet.

    Hi stage-x,
I've got 2 manuals. One is the 72 Fisher Body Manual and the other is the 72 repair manual. I just went through both and cannot find anything relative. Which assembly manual would you be referring to? Thanks for the heads up. Maybe someone here will offer to scan those (best Norm Abram, New England accent here) "Measured Drawings". I'll bet they are only in the 1970 manuals.

    Santina....

The Buick assembly manuals were used by the employees who built the car. They show the same detail of stripes in my 71 assembly manual. Spend the $20 and get one for your 72. :TU:

Or you can ask around for someone with a scanner, and have them email the page you're after. :Do No:

I think they have the 72 manuals on ebay all the time with a buy it now price. :3gears:

And Mark, "(or as Norm would say, draring)", you're killing me.
