I know a mechanic who has a 2007 Toyota Tundra with the 5.7 Force engine that says he will beat my GS. He claims he has 405 hp. I am waiting to get my drag radials mounted so I can get some traction before I race him!!
This race will happen soon...what do you think???
    Will I smoke him???

You might want to ask a few questions first...Toyota started selling a bolt-on supercharger this year putting the engine over the 500 hp mark!

Every toyota I've ever driven has ZERO torque. V8s, 6 and 4 bangers too!

Wow a 2.065 60' time, slow. I would figure that they would get great traction and have a fast 60' time.

    This makes me feel better.:3gears:

Don't let his intimidation scare you. Your 455 will waste his "405 HP" Toyota. They are slow winding from low rpm and slow moving out of the hole. I drove one (a friend is a salesman at the Toyota dealership and I thought my 5.4 triton (300 hp) conversion van (it has 3.55 gears) ran just about as well and it isn't even close to the pull of the stage 1 or the wildcat.

I haven't seen the supercharged Toyota version but the SVT Lightning Ford Pickup with the supercharged triton only ran high 14's out of the box.

um, my 3800 non SC riv is just as quick as any tundra we have on the lot... i work at toyota by the way. don't you dare even worry about a tundra. now, if I had to tow a 26 ft race trailer with my riv, and the tundra did the same, i'd loose... but it's a truck, with a not so tiny motor, but nowhere near big. go show your friend that if he wants to race, to build a car, not buy a truck. then tow the car to the racetrack with the truck.

I do know a couple of guys that come to the GM meet in Stanton with new Chevy pickups, 4 wheel drive, LS motors and superchargers. They turn 12.75's.

Tundras are quick for trucks. Factory specs are 380 hp and 400 ft lbs of torque. They come with 4.10 or 4.30 gears. Their main problem is traction and weight. I've beaten a few at the track with my hemi. The 2 I've raced didn't have posis but were 4 wheel drive and they would roast one tire in 2wd all the way down the track. The 4 doors also weigh around 5900 lbs. They both ran 15 flat to my 14.5.

He doesn't stand a chance against a built 455 with what? 3800 lbs? They are quick trucks though. I've seen a stock single cab short bed Tundra run 14.1.

Now, I guess 14 and 15s aren't that impressive but keep in mind these are trucks, shaped like a brick, no weight over the wheels, and weigh a ton more than your Buick.

He doesn't stand a chance though but Tundras are not "slow as hell." They're trucks.

My Tundra has plenty of torque. It is a truck however. Don't waste your time. Tell him to show you a time slip and go hall some firewood. Trucks are for work. Nothing else.

What year tundra? I have driven an 2005 and to get any power you must wind it up past 3000 RPM. I guess that's what the 5 speed and steep rear is for.

I assumed it was the new ones. It's night and day with the new ones and the old ones. Yall don't seem to think too highly of trucks. haha There are some quick trucks out there. Yall are putting down trucks like Chevy guys puttin down a Buick. Yall didn't even give it a chance!

Smoke him and then it will be over with. Who is too good to pass up a kill from a guy talking smack? He's not going to beat you but you might be surprised at how quick they are for how heavy they are.

I raced one in my low compression skymaro back before i turbo charged it and from a dead stop i smoked him. Then we had to do the rolling thing. He did better that way but i still pulled away from him. Unless he is running something other than stock i wouldn't worry about it.

There basically isn't an aftermarket for those vehicles yet but it's gunna take at least forced induction to take that Buick but I still don't think it will happen.

Take a stock skylark and a stock Tundra it might be a better race.

my diesel has run low 14s and weighs 7500lbs. i like trucks :TU:.

i think it would get in the 13s with a better tune but im sure it would hurt the tranny so i dont try it.

the 01 truck in my sig was close to hitting 14s also it ran a 15.1 or 15.2 been a while but it does have a 100 hp less than the tundra.

Thoe DMaxs are pretty damn quick. Too bad they weigh so much.
