Going to look at doing this as well with the program. Even in the hot sun of Saturday, we definitely could do with having a dedicated time trial lane for people wanting to test their car or run grudge races. Plus it keeps people at the track and not wandering around or wondering if the race is over, or out of the loop. Quite a few people, if not most unless they break, stay till the very end. Plus it gives everyone in the eliminations a chance to cool their cars and not bake in the lanes in the sun and their car too. Going to work after discussing with Wayne about moving the cars through the lanes at a faster pace. Not rushing the racers, or cutting down cooling time, or anything like that. But logistically speaking, I want the cars to get called ahead of time after cool down so people know they have to be in the lanes and be ready and saddled up. Avoid the jumble of cars all over the circle track behind the tower and wondering, who is next and also not having drivers in their cars sit and bake in the heat and get aggravated. There is no real rush for the program. Friday was a long day of racing trying to get people down the track as many times as possible plus get all the show cars down the track as well. I think time wise we were off a bit on Saturday but we are lucky we do not have the scale of breakage or oil downs like a pro mod or doorslammer style event. I know at the end of the day people are worn out from the heat and sun and want to see a great day of racing. Changes for sure for next year to make sure everyone is on same page and simplified so no false assumptions or issues, period!

The 2014 nationals were a fast push at the end for B1 also.
Some of those cars have little to no cooling system's.
We should be there next year in B1 unless a better fitting class comes up. We have no cooling system, unless you consider a fan in the diaper a cooling system......
The classes we run from 7.6 bracket to Top Fuel have an established time per run which is known in advance. Changes to this happen due to weather or track damage, but the cars are allowed to run.
Yes tempers and sometimes misunderstood hostility happens.
Wayne if I could ask you to please not let this experience ruin an overall experience.
If you go next year I will pit near you and anyting I can do to assist I will.
My crew is your crew if you need a hand.
    I ask two things
#1 look the other way on the fact we drive a dragster:D
#2 Go enjoy the time with friends, make new friends, and most important inspire people to push the Buick limits.
You have built an awsome ride.

2-ideas that I think would immediately cut down on the confusion/ chaos, is don't call 3-4 classes at 1-time to the circle track. If I'm not mistaken all these classes call to have the racers going off a ladder and need to be "paired up" now you have what? 40+ cars filling up the lanes to work around. And second, have some type of run order. Anyone that has drag races for anytime at all know S#@! happens and things have to be changed on the fly but, just trying to find out what class was running next sent the "officials" into a rage this year. Your work is appreciated Tony so, we'RE with you.........

Why doesn't the guy taking the money respond?

Have a look in the Pure stock posting. Nothing but praise for how well that event went. Granted it's only 2 days but everyone went home happy.

I don't think I'd hold my breath for Richard to respond here guys. I don't have a dog in this race nor any bones to pick, just saying I'm not sure I've ever seen him post here and that includes many past threads about the gs nats. Hopefully he'll contact Wayne as well as those directly involved and get it sorted out, and make arrangements to avoid this issue in the future. Either way, I hope to be there next year!

Richard had nothing to do with that decision it was all Carswell. Richard may be the "face" of the Nationals but the one responsible for that call I can all but assure you he wasn't, I spoke to him in the tent for about 10min while the final round fiasco was going on I do believe

Harry Truman as president said the "the buck stops here" If Richard is the GSCA president, then the buck stops there. Lot of work to organize these events, and not alot of reward on the other end. Richard should tell us what went wrong, and his plan to fix it. I know you can't make everyone happy, someone will always find some nit wrong, but this was an error that should not have happened.

Were you there Fred? No? Then I dont think Richard owes YOU any explanation. Sideline quarterback you are.

In fact, the only person in this thread that deserves ANY explanation of any sort is Wayne. And I hope he gets it. The rest are just rubberneckin a car accident.

    Hi Jim
Yes, Wayne certainly needs an explanation ,but I too would be interested in what happened and how to prevent it from happening again. I was put in a bad light even though I tried my best to get that race done.

I think the question of what happened has been explained already.

If you remember Gary, you, Sandy and I were talking while you were waiting on Wayne. While you did say you would wait for Wayne, you and Sandy were both slightly put off by the wait and I dont blame you. In drag racing you have to make the call. You made the call with time to spare but Wayne did not.

I am not agreeing with what was done. I do not fault Wayne. But not making the call isnt fair to the other competitors. You didnt know that one of the S16 directors gave him permission to take his time. Neither did Jim Carswell.

Hopefully communications will be better at future events and this can be avoided.

Tony you were involved with the BPG for a number of years and we posted a schedule of events. You know how we operated with our Race Directors and the person in charge of everything was always available to answer questions. online and offline...just something to think about..

I did not make it to the nats this year, but sounds like there were some issues. If I was put in that spot I would had waited no matter what they say, what are they going to do dq you both. Cars of that caliper don't safely do basically round robin laps. For the track ppl or event p to tell a driver to race without the proper safety equipment is just crazy. If they are in that much of hurry, they shouldn't be doing races.

I have been to countless races across the country and there is always wasted time in the schedule that can be trimmed to speed any event up. How many times have any of us been somewhere racing and we hear last call to the lanes, then again, and again. Why can't the ppl running these thing get down to first call, last call, and a few minutes later ( a reasonable amount of minutes, that is the same for all classes) shut it down, put someone there to turn ppl away. I'm sure after ppl loose 1 of the only 2 or the only time trail for the day, the next time they areally called to lanes they won't jerk around about it.

Every couple of minutes saved helps out.

I had almost this same conversation word for word with the track operator last year at a race in clay city ky. The called the box class, had the lanes full, counted over 50 single time trail passes. Called last call 5 times for the box class. That's just crazy. Then as the event went on when we were running both box and no box I couldn't even get to the pits, fuel, and to the lanes hardly in time. They finally ran the no box class on me before I was even off the return road from the box class.......I was upset that they could not even give me enough time to make the pass and drive right back into lanes for my next class, but they had enough time to let 50 solo time runs go. And I'm sure it was the same during both tts.

So i feel the frustration and applaud you for being safe and not letting them tell you what to do. It might be their event they are running, buts our cars, our money, our life's on the track.

Wow I guess I am just a rubber neck as I was not there this year. I do have an opinion though whether Jim Rodgers cares or not. Why on earth is Richard never hands on during his own event ? Always behind the scenes and getting second hand info. He should have over road that decision and let the race finish the way it should have. Take it for what its worth from this rubbernecker but if Wayne was part of the good ole boy club this never would have happened.

I guess I am rubbernecking also since I didn't attend. But I would also like to know Richards plan to the fix it. Jim Rodgers. Behind the scenes I am giving my own input and help for the event to help it survive and continue. Nobody wants to have a crappy event to attend. It costs a lot of money to travel that far to not try and make the best experience possible.

Not really up on what happend in the S16 finals other than what I read here. I was in the B3 finals and waited in the shade around the corner along with the other car an hour to be called for our match. Finally a track guy came along on a cart and wanted to know why we were not up on the line to run. We hadnt been called. He said they wouldnt call us to run until we were up on the line????Guy seemed a bit upset. We went forward, got ushered into the water box and made the run with little fanfare. Never in my 5 years of racing seen this happen. So in short I think there is room for improvement.

As stated and a KNOWN FACT, you were not there. Richard is hands on at the event. He is in the tower talking to the attendees all though the event. Of course, you didn't know this before (ignorance is bliss, right?) but now you do know. Additionally, Richard walks around all over and is open to statements and questions. He will make changes on the fly if needed and has. He wants this event to be better every year. Just because he doesn't step into the social media realm, doesn't mean he is not involved. Why does he have to bow down to you for the means of communications you desire. Heck, you don't even attend the event. Come on out to the Nationals next year Chris and see for yourself in person. Don't be a rubber neck !

It is sad and confusing why this all occurred. I decided to leave before the end with 2 trips to drive to make my way back to a hurricane ravaged home. There have been responders in this thread that have acknowledged issues that led to this mishap and are working on corrections to "FIX" the problem to aid in eliminating a re-occurrence. I am sure you know who these people are and would hope you already understood this. If not, here's your sign.
