    GStage1 Always looking for parts!

Use the air cleaner for shows.....use an open 360 degree element for driving.
Use the factory shop manual for the vacuum hose diagram for the ram-air cleaner.

Assembly manual has several huge diagram pages of each vacuum engine set-up. You need one of these.

It's funny that this post is here , I was going to ask the same thing. Mine is for a 71 455 Stage 1 if that matters. Does the vacuum open up the air cleaner only with car running? Operate differently? Mine has no lines going to the air cleaner right now so would my scoops be closed or open? Thanks Ron

I Believe The Idea Was That The One Scoop With The Thermac Would Operate Like Normal And Then If You Punched It The Second Scoop Would Open....correct Me If Im Wrong....MY CAR IS A 71 STAGE 1 ALSO

I leave them open all the time. Makes no difference.

Hey Dave, I went out to the garage to take a good look at the AC assembly and yes they are open all the time. From what I see the vacuum would probably close one till the engine got warm or a no vacuum situation as in full throttle... Ron

I think the vacuum closes both and the air comes up from the heat pipe attached at the manifold under non full throttle operation.

Where does the vacuum hose from the GS Ram air cleaner plug into on the carb?

Manifold vacuum port on the left/passenger side of the carb (when facing the front of the car), or the ported vacuum port on the right/drivers side?

    Thanks

Original would have a metal Tee in the line. Get a Service or assembly manual it clearly shows how all the hoses route.

In the service manual it is in the Controlled Combustion System Chapter. Pages 67-12 and 67-13 of the 71 Manual. It is also towards the end of section 6 in the assembly manual. But Marco may have solved your problem.

Just want to say "Thanks" for this post. I searched vacuum hose routing because I needed help (don't ask why) and this post solved the problem. I missed the page in the repair manual (anger causes stuff like that) and this post directed me to the right spot. My ride is running smooth again!

    Search is your friend!
