GS 455 / 2001 CarCraft magazine

    Just got off the phone with a guy who own's a 72 GS with a 2001 Car Craft motor. Claims it's rated 565 hp and has the reciepts and paperwork to back it up !:Smarty:
    Anyone know anything about this Car Craft motor ? Motor has 8,000 miles on it .

    i know i talked to dave at ta just after the article came out and he offered the motor to me but also said that he had a different cam he would put init as the story was sponsored by comp cams and he had to use their cam the cam he wanted to use was something like a 590 lift he figured it would put the motor around 600 hp.that is all i know.

    Todd I wonder what it would turn in the qtr. with the turbo 400 and new gears. It has the original 3;08 open in it .
    Got any ideas????? 565 hp !:laugh:

    hi bruce jim w is building me a motor what started out as a level 2 alum head as hp #'s started coming out as he completed other projects it became clear that the bottom end that we discussed wouldn't be viable so we switched to ta rods of course the block is going to be frozen also using a 76 block core and also a couple of inches of hard fill the heads are going to have his fullest level of work he's figuring 600 hp this should put me well into low elevens with my street set-up there is a 1970 skylark at the local strip 11.25 compression motor dynoed at 580 was running 11.20's he said his best at 10.95 i believe he was running 3.90 gears.

    Chris yes thats the one ! I saw it when it was posted but did not go see it. Then he relists it in a magazine and I called him and the car sounded pretty good.

    So yes that's the one and...........................................What ya think ?? :Do No: :TU:

    Looks good! Can't wait to see more of it. I bet it's a blast to drive. Is any of that power making it to the pavement?

    Chris and Brian Thank you for your support and kind words!! Shirley took a few shots with the camera tonite. She also started and drove "HER"GS out of the garage tonight. Should have seen her face when she started it and said "kinda lumpy"huh !!!

    I smiled and said "U-BETCHA !" She likes it so far ........... I think i created a monster !!!!
