Anybody here using a Griner Transbrake in their TH400? I bought my TH400 used and the transbrake is not working. The solenoid does not seem to have a return spring and the trans has no reverse. Any help would be appreciated!

    Doesn't WORK?

That is one high dollar brake, I'd be pretty mad if it didn't work. I'm curios to see if it's worth the money.......Let me know........

I met Steve Griner the first part of Oct. Reverse only works in rev. or neutrel with the trans brake applied. The transbrake is all internal. I saw them being made while we were talking to him. You should be able to hear it click when you power the transbrake. The ground is in the pan. He recommends a 20 amp fuse in line. I still have the instuctions on the brake if you need it.

    Life saver

Bandit. You are a life saver. I bought the trans used. The solenoid operates in one direction, but there is nothing to pull or push it back in the other direction when you let off of the trans brake button. We have tried reverse in several different modes and cannot get it to work. I emailed them and got no reply and they don't answer the listed phone number. I really need that set of instructions. Please contact me off list at cacmanjr@aol.com.

I have a different brand Trans brake than that one, but had a similar problem. I pulled the sol. off, then pulled out the "valve" and polished it carefully in drill, this info. came from the shop that did the trans. The valve will not move freely if the smallest scratch or piece of whatever gets in there. Pretty sure there was a spring in there pushing on the valve. The valve is like a 3 inch long rod with steps cut into it, polish it with scotch brite. For the reverse issue, you may need to engage the T.B for reverse to work. One more thing, only a small amount of trans. fluid will come out when you pull the sol. and valve. Keep us posted, Good luck.

Gary, the solenoid is internal to the pan instead of where the vacuum modulator goes like on most brakes. Also the valve moves very freely, I just cannot understand what is supposed to move the valve in the other direction after it is opened by the solenoid. Also, regardless of the position of the valve, we have no reverse. Need those instructions!

I didn't know there was a TB like that, learn something new everyday!
Anyways, I'd call Mike's Transmission, they build high performance trans. for every application, and sure Mike has seen this type. You can trust them. It can't hurt to call, ask for Mike, (661)723-0081. That's in Lancaster, CA

Yep, Gary. To keep on learning makes us wise (hopefully). Thanks for the tip about Mikes. I hope that Bandit comes up with the instructions. That should solve the problem but it sure is great to have alternatives! This board is a wealth of information.

    Contact!

I finally got through to Steve Griner on the telephone today. He is sending me a couple of small parts and some instructions. Found out that the brake that I have is an older model. Hope this solves the problem! He also let me know that he has a dealer in my area who can help if the parts and instructions don't solve the problem.

    Success!

We are up an running! :TU: A couple of driveway launches off of the brake were real strong. Can't wait for next season!

John, I wound up talking to your guy, Dave. He told me exactly where to look for the problem. He came highly recomended by Steve Griner also. Thanks for the lead! :beer
