Just thought that I would start by sucking up a bit.

I wanted to introduce myself as a very "wet behind the ears" newbie who knows next to nothing about cars.

My name is James from Jeffersonville, IN and I have always seen the very cool hot rods and classics cruising down the road and then telling my wife how cool it would be to have one of those. I also thought it would be great to know about automobiles so I could some of my own repairs and the like. So I came up with the idea of restoring an old car. My thinking was that I couldn't break it any worse that it was already and I would get a general knowledge of a bunch of different car systems.

Which bring us to now. I am now the proud owner of a pair of 1955 Buick Super s. One is for parts and the other for restoration. Both have a free and working 322 V8. My resto car is now drivable, but to be a daily driver I need to (at least) put new shocks and springs on it.

So now you know my story. I hope it will ok to ask stupid questions concerning my Super and the ridicule will be at a low level. Heck I take it at a high level if that is what a newbie has to do.

I understand the new guy buys the drinks!

Thanks for looking and please introduce yourself.

    Hi, James!

    Sounds like a fun project.

There is a lot of expertise on this board, and a lot of people who are happy to take advanced concepts and patiently explain them in "newbie" terms.

Of course I don't know how many people on the board know a lot about the 322 (I've never even heard of it!), but time will tell.

For that type of project, I would definately consider a membership in the Buick Club of America- they have some fantastic members there who might be able to offer more assistance for your particular project. I think membership is like $35/year, I don't remember offhand. But hang around this board too, there is a lot to learn about a ton of stuff.

    Welcome!

    Welcome.
The first thing I would do is to purchase a shop manual for this car and read it, Learn about your car first .
Like everyone else will tell you there are no dumb questions.
