Thanks to everyone involved in putting on a great time at Martin. Weather wasn't the greatest but still had a good time. Met old friends and some new ones.
Saturday was cancelled because of the wind but Friday was fun. Bob Jr. made 28 runs and I believe some had more than that. Some, including Jr., were hot lapping so much that I thought we were at Martinsville watching NASCAR.
Track was hooking good and Bob Jr. ran a personal best of 13.27.
Again we had a great time and THANKS to all. Bob

Wow talk about hot lapping. Made 28 runs in the chevelle,ran12.30s with a 25 mph head wind. Made 12 runs in Rhondas Olds and 1 in Chris Jones Torino Cobra. And i think she made 20 + runs also!!!!! Thanks guys . Had a great time, got to hang with friends. Always look forward to that.

Terry, I want to add my thanks as well for all your efforts. Everyone I saw was having as great time as I was.

BTW, did I get the longest distance traveled award this year?? :Do No: I hope I won something 'cause running against Jeremy sure wasn't working for me! Thanks though Jeremy for the rematch. The Chevy II was doing OK till 4th gear and then you juussst slipped off into the distance....but I'll get you next time!! :Brow:

I watched one of your runs from about half track and I thought that I smelled a burning clutch.

Would like to give a BIG thank you to all who came out to Martin to race with all the weather issues.:TU:

With the very small car count and turn out at this race this will most likely effect the fall race in 2012 and could also effect the spring event in 2012.

Dave and I need to do sit down to talk and look at everything like they say nothing lasts forever.:ball: :ball: :ball: :ball: :ball

Thank everyone for your support and many great years of racing.:3gears: :3gears: :3gears:

Thanks Terry. I had a great time. Hopefully it does not have to end completely. Maybe one of the the Martin events can continue.

Sorry to hear that Terry, but financially understandable. Sucks but understand.
    Hopefully one will survive.

Thanks Rich, We didn't make Stanton this year, so this was a good way to end the year.
Bob let me drive the car twice on Friday, just kidding Bob. After five years of not driving it, I think he's better at driving than this "old man". First run was a 15.1, forgot to pedal, forgot to watch the tach, and almost forgot to shift. I hate getting old! Second run was better, 13.61.
Someday, if I ever finish the Hornet, I'll run it and really make a fool of myself.

No, Thank You guys for many great years of racing.

Maybe we need to look into a smaller track, that has cheaper rent, closer to Mishawaka??:Brow: :Do No: At least try it once?

I think I speak for all the racers and spectators when I say that this is one of the best events of the year and would hate for the late June event to fall by the wayside. I know that the costs were barely covered earlier this year and maybe its time to review the price of admission and adjust it accordingly. The organizers put in a huge effort and we can't thank you guys enough for the time and energy thats involved in pulling it off.
I'm sure Terry, Dave and Greg have shopped around other venue's that would host our group. We've been spoiled thus far in not having to share the track with different classes of cars and I'd be the first to say I'd pay a little more to keep it that way.
US 131 is a great facility but maybe we're biting off more than the group can chew if the group won't support the event with a higher price of admission.
    What are your thoughts??

I know that the core of racers are from Michigan. Are most from the Detroit area? I have not been to Milan for years, but is it not a better location?

I have raced /participated last 2 years at June race
Would hate to see it go away, maybe move it earlier in the spring sometime in May for some cooler air?

Im not sure price is a problem ,it's the quantity of people.
With only 26-28 people that $300 plus per person. Probably not going to happen for the average person .

The June race typically has a turnout of 80 plus racers doesn't it?

    Bruno,
I think the car count was as high as 80 one year, most of the years its been 65-75 cars even at 80 we still don't break even. Dave and I LOVE the spring race but at sometime your family needs to live within your means. Rasing admission will not work as people are watching what they spend their money on and counting every penny.
Moving the race would not work either. We feel that at Martin we provide one of the nicest tracks in the midwest, because we all can party and camp at the track. Martin is one of the cleanest dragstrips in the midwest and over all a VERY, VERY nice place. To move this anywhere other than Michigian would not work at all.

Dave and I will be talking mid week.
Thank you all for all your support.

    Terry,
Thanks for all the hard work putting this event on. I know the weather wasnt perfect by any means but those of us who did show up had a great time despite the way it worked out. I would hate to see either Martin race go away, and I would like to see at least one Martin race survive. As of right now I can tell you if there was a fall race scheduled for next year I would plan on attending.
    Thanks again:TU:

I would consider paying a little bit more to have the Martin event continue.
Martin is a very nice track. I look forward to going to a clean & modern facility.

even though the weather didn't cooperate I had a great time also.

and as long as I can draw breath and the car isn't broke I will attend any Martin FAST/FS events (assuming they continue). waiting to see everyone once in Sept just isn't enough.
