A friend had told me about a restorable Suncoupe he had saw sitting in a yard here in Georgia. We went to rescue it last weekend and the yard had moved it from where he had seen it. We found it in the back. I have yet to understand why some yards have to crunch and bend everything they have. When they moved it they killed it. Kinda looks like they made an effort to get it all over. That is too bad. Looks like the crusher won this time. http://home.mindspring.com/~willisford/_uimages/Im001775.jpg http://home.mindspring.com/~willisford/_uimages/Im001778.jpg Tom Willisford
What a shame. That car looks like it might have had some potential before they bashed in the roof:ball:. Looks like someone needs to make a run and rob all of the usable parts from this one before they do away with it. I see a rear bumper emblem, engine, and maybe taillight lenses/rubbers, etc. Let me say it again, :ball:
Jeff Spicoli My dad has an auuuusum set of tools. I can fix it  Seriously though, what a shame. Sometimes you just have to wonder howmany generations has their family been inbreeding.:blast: :blast:
That car is done..... I noticed the Floyd County tag (Rome) and that is only 45 minutes from me. What yard is that in? Possibly Otting and Sons???? Russ Waters
:ball: Nothing still beats my parts car that I found stacked between 3 cars on top and 2 cars on bottom.... Can you say 71 GS 350 with the roof crunched down to the seats, and the frame bent....got lots of 350 parts from it though ...Made me wanna:ball: I got it for 250 bucks delivered to my house, and then junked what was left....Some people dont know what there throwing away Larry :TU:
Russ, It is in Johnny's in Cedartown where I grew up. Owner is a good friend. I don't think he is in the phone book. Probably 100 acres of cars. Not too many Buicks though. There is another very nice J/yard close also. Let me know if you want to go scrounging sometime! Take Care! Tom
Tom, I could use a couple of the top track/guide parts on that car if it would be possible. Anyway to get in touch with the yard? Thanks, Doug
Notice the tail light rubber surrounds?? They don't exactly grow on trees. ou: I just don't understand these salvage yards. Half the crap there looks fine when it comes in, but the way they trash them in the yard is assanine. They are losing out on alot of money and we are losing out on good parts.
I just found out there's a '70 GS 350 that's in rough shape but, it has the GS hood (that's supposedly in good shape), buckets with auto on the column, and rally wheels. I figure the air cleaner assembly is intact also. The bad part is that the owner ran the forklift through the grill and the radiator. So, I don't know whats left of it. I'll probably go up tomorrow to take a look at it. The one question is would anyone be interested in any of this stuff? Let me know. Thanks. Rob
Rob I'm looking for a GS Hood, Let me know what goes on with it I'd be very interested if the price is right! I'm from Jersey..hope thats close. If he's lookind for a 100 bucks and the hood is in good shape all around with no rot...I'd take it! Also the air cleaner as well!!.....I also need some tail lights and some head light bezels as well ....Please help me out! :ball: Thanks Rob :TU: Larry
Hi Larry, I live 100 miles from the Jersey border along I-80. My brother is the one that found the car. He said the hood is in good condition. I'll be stopping by tomorrow to talk to the owner. I'll let you know then. Rob
Sounds great rob....here is my work email so you can get in touch with me larryc@dawnengineering.com Or better yet call me at work here is the number 732-739-8844. Thanks Rob Larry :TU:
I'd Buy It! Boy,if i lived closer i'd try to buy the heap cheap and take it home,be suprised at all the part's that could still be saved off of it.
Jeff you would be suprised on how many parts I actually need    . Ill try to puchace the whole car and see what happens.:TU: Larry :TU:
about 17 years ago I was in need of a small block ford engine. I found a 67 Cougar in the local yard and decided on that 289. The car was in nice shape except for some front susp damage. Body was nice! I paid them to remove the motor. Here comes a fork lift, stops at the drivers side and to my horror spears the car right thru the door! It then flips it on the roof, they torch everything attached and it spears it again and flips the car over. Thay could have sold all the sheetmetal on this car before they butchered it! If I would have known this was the fate for my motor, I would have done it myself or selected another donor that wasn't so rare. I couldn't believe it. They could have made a mint on parts from that car, interior was good too until the forklift punctured it . Still makes me mad! :af: :af: Brian
that is a shame what these junkyards do to valuable parts. one down in VA got in a 69 hemi plymouth one day. the guy that works there said wait til i get back from lunch, i want the motor. after lunch he came back to find hemi and all crushed flat. lets see, 426 hemi engine... thousands of dollars easy, a few hundred lbs of scrap metal at a few cents per lb what 25 -75 cents ???? you can lead a horse to water, but......... its one thing to be poor but when your too stupid to take a decent price for your parts you deserve to be poor. they just like to crush stuff more than they like cash. ou: henry white 70 GS 350 70 GS 455 70 STAGE 1
There are some yards around me that dosent scrap the car until the complete car is picked apart. But there few and far between (like a 70 GS grill ) ...anyway...the problem is that owners of these yards are not into the car hobbie and they dont realize what the true value of there stuff is. I saw 1 time in a "car hobbiest" junk yard a 70's Maverick Grabber....He said he got it from an estate sale...didnt want to strip it and sold it weeks later....He even had a 68 skylark and did the same thing. I'm always depressed when I walk into yards and all I see is 90 and up cars :ball: . I know that most of our cars are toyota's and honda's now:af:, but there has to be somebody out there that still has some of this stuff out there... As for that guy that owns that yard that I was talking about...he's a hobbiest too :TU: ...In fact he owns Fonzie's car (pres. of the 50's flamethorwers club of america who is now disceased). There should be more guys like this guy who owns a junkyard... Larry :TU:
