I ran into this guy, Larry Slevin, over the weekend. Many of you probably remember his super clean 69 Cobra 428SCJ 4 speed from last year.

Sunday there was a big Shelby/FCA car show at Ford World Headquarters in Dearborn. I talked to Larry and and he said that he is coming back to race with us in Sept. The car has been dyno tuned since last September and he is looking forward to improving his performance.

I think that a 69 Cobra is capable of mid 13's.
He has not had a ton of track time with it.
The restoration is only a few years old and I think last year was his first year at the track with it.

He was who I was paired up against with my 70 GS350.

That is a super nice car, and look's really good with the Formal roofline:TU:

Saw that car last year and liked it. When I started racing pure stocks years ago , there were 2 green 69 cobra fastbacks running. ALWAYS liked those cars. With the formal roof line, the car is kinda Buickish ( fast with class ) definatly different and sleeper like !!!!!:bglasses:

Steve, you are thinking of this guy.
Keith B., I don't remember how to spell his last name so I won't butcher it.

This blue beauty is a 68 Fairlane 500 428CJ auto.

1969 was the first year Ford offered the Cobra as part of the Fairlane/Torino lineup.

Cobra coupes are a dime a dozen compared with that blue '68. I think it was 1 of 25 or something like that.

As I recall there was a blue one that had a 429 in it. I'm thinking it was a 1 of 2 made. I think they both originally went to the Romy Hammes Ford dealership in South Bend too.

Well, the only 1 of 2 I can recall is Bill K's '71 Torino Brougham with the 4-speed 429CJ and Shaker.

I didn't realize those '69 Cobras were so damn common. :puzzled:
A friend in town here has a one in Black Jade with the 428.
