Debating between putting a 4-bbl on my '66 Lark with the 300 or just going with a good Holley 2-barrel. Any recomendations on sizing? Will the Holley's fit on the stock 2bbl maifold? Thanks!
cc : a lllooonnnggg time ago i put one of the good 500 cfm holley 2bbl's ( new about $60 bucks - then ) on my 64 special wagon with a 300 in it . needed an adapter . didn't keep track of gas mileage ( i was like 18-19 and premium was 35-40 cents a gallon ) . one of the main catalogs used to list gm/rochester modified 2bbl carbs ( probably for the dirt guys or certain drag classes ) - those would be sneaky . if you are gonna throw in a cam and maybe add dual exhaust a 4 bbl may work best . be careful with buying a used carb , maybe around 600-650 cfm , quite a few of the big cars with the 300 in 'em used four barrel carbs if you need a manifold , or some of the sporty skylarks . if you find a complete setup be sure and have someone decent redo the carb for you . those were nice little motors . not much valve train weight , seemed to rev pretty good . blew off my girl friend and her older sisters new 71 350 cutlass with it one night . sorry sis . del
