I posted once before about a friend who has a beautiful 66 Chevelle that ran just a tad faster than my T-Type so we had fun lining up against each other as it always was close with me taking a few wins too. However he now has his new 406 crate motor in with a blower, intercooler and alky spray system. The car dynoed 725 rear wheel horsepower (yikes) and he wants me to go to G'ville Raceway and line up against him in the T-Type.

He should easily run low 10's

    I'm gonna get killed.

Maybe I could make him tow the 67 Caddy as a handicap.

Bet him an obscene amount of money that you will win, then put a few Huge stages of nitrous on ur motor, blow his doors off at the race, and afterward, if ur picking up parts of ur block at the end of the track from the nitro, take the money u won and have trishield build you an 750 hp 525.:Brow: :TU: :pp

With 725 HP at the wheels he's gonna go a heck of lot faster than 10's. That is if he can get it to hook. If he has stock suspension that might prove difficult. If you can get inside his head he will loose. Tell him he wont be able to launch without blowing the tires off, or your gonna miss a shift, or your gonna redlight. You get the idea

Get your tune and 60' sorted out. There's at least another 7 tenths in your car on race gas.

    Thanks for the support guys.
He's four liked, spooled, moser axled the 12 bolt rear end and rachet shifter; it hooks pretty well but he does not want to run slicks so he will have to launch soft as G'ville does not hook for a test and tune session. He has not run it with this new combination yet, he's waiting for me to go too. He's done this a long time (many 10-11 sec passes) so I'm not sure how much psyche I can put on him. I can't get my Mickey Thomson's to hook with my 1.85-60' much less launching it harder. They break loose as soon as I hit full boost in 1st. They don't prep the track very well and too many weekend warriors drive through the water box and drag water all over the starting line with their street tires. Most all the really fast cars have trouble keeping it straight off the line here. The track officials get upset with me for driving around the box and backing into it (wasting time but I still run the 235x60 front tires). The engine, trans, driveshaft, lower control arms and motor tie down systems are done so they will be fine with a hard launch it's just the "stock" rear end I worry about.

My engine builder is upset with me for not finding those 6-7 tenths that I know are there (bragging rights I guess). It has gone 123 MPH @ 11.18-22 with that 1.85-60' spinning through 1st so I know they are there. But once you go faster than 11.49 you need a at least a roll bar so I only get to make two passes and then park it (no roll bar).
I'm gonna have to get a roll bar to tune for those 6-7 tenths.

If you ever want to go over rear suspension stuff, shoot me a PM. My car was street raced, and would hook even on an unprepped surface. I was caged so going below 11.50 wasn't an issue. I hit 1.52-1.54 on a zero boost launch, any more and it wanted to pick up the front end...

this is where u keep your mouth shut and give STS a call
Squire remote turbo system Dual turbo your rig and act as if you never put forth any effort.... LOL
I kno you wouldn't want to ruin your originality .. I wouldn't either.. But sure would be funny and I bet it would do the trick..

Why would he put a rear mount turbo on his car that already comes with a turbo V6:confused: You can duplicate the STS setup much cheaper and better anyway. I'm friends with Kenny that owns the 9 second 04 GTO, the only parts left from STS were the turbo flanges after Cartek re-did the whole system. I've worked with several STS setups, and think if you can fabricate you can make a better system.

I appreciate all the ides but I think I'm still gonna make him tow my 67 Caddy as a handicap. I have some time though as it is too hot and humid to get decent air for the turbo. We'll go to the track in late October when the night air is cool or I could pack my intercooler with dry ice.

He was as surprised as the dyno guys here when he pulled 775 HP.

You heard it from NjBuickRacer ... STS sucks and going twin instead of single turbo is just nonsense. lol KIDDING . My sarcastic point being .. A remote twin setup will get you more than any single aftermarket intercooled turbo.. ITll cost alot more tooo.

I WOULDN'T EVER SUGGEST IN ACTUALITY TO A t-TYPE OWNER TO TAKE THIS ROUTE LOL PLEASE CUT A KNUCKLEHEAD SOME SLACK.

My bad I didn't actually think he was being serious about hopping up to beat his buddy.. Who want's to spend over 10 grand ruining a T-type.?. Not me. I never ever in my wildest dreams thought he would take my verbal defication seriously.. Shakin my head at those crazy gardeners..:TU: :Comp: :TU: :Dou:
i was just being silly and sarcastic..

Hey no apologies, we are keeping this light, if you can't have any fun then there is no sense in doing anything.

I passed on the chance for a new (used for one dyno pull) 70 turbo and 72# injectors for a $1000.00 (800 HP at the crank I am told) because then the trans and rear end and suspension and computor and fuel system would all need upgrades ($5000.00+ more). There are many proven 9 second street T-Type's and GN's with the conventional setup which is the way I would go. But it is too fast for city streets now (you aim it, not drive it; those of you with really fast cars know what I mean) and 200 more horsepower would only make it more of a handfull. It is not a drag car but a very fast street car with A/C, cruise and overdrive so I can use the car to go anywhere and get 26-27 mpg highway.

I think I will just pull a "Pinks" on him and tell him I want the start and two lengths.

yeah i know brother i just wanted to clarify that i go off at the head in the kill section.. I can't be serious in here. I just like to run my mouth and boast the buick bazongas into gettin their gear-faces on....

BEHOLD THE MOPAR SLAYA..... THE WICKEDNESS RESUMES IN DETROIT BOYZ.. I know how the race types are. They get extremely literal and str8 to the point.. Especially bracket racers.. remarkable attention to detail and extremely maticulous.. which is a good thing.. Never been to a dirty house owned by a racer.. kinda like how landscapers have horrible front yards.. and/or electricians have electrical problems in their homes lol
Bracket racers have very clean garages and bathrooms with marvelous 60" plasma tv's next to the comodes..

never mince with a bracket racer he'll Mr. Clean ya to death lol:gp:

Theres plenty of stealthy stufff u could bolt on to nitch that guy in his ride... bigger turbo with a larger wastegate and some nitro :)

or you could always strap a General Electric t-w 346 turbofan on the rear deck and hold on for dear life.. only thing is i doubt you'd make it back to the starting line in time to boast how you ripped him a new one..; You'd have to calll from cincinatti to boast on that one.. hehe

Unless he has an aftermarket block, at those power levels he might not last long. If he really has that much power he should have a high 8~ low 9 sec car.

    "FORD"?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
    I don't see a Ford!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jarrett, I like that 11 sec truck. My wife however "covets" it as she has been talking an old 60's GMC pickup truck (like the parts truck her deceased dad let her drive from his Pontiac dealership) as her daily driver for a couple of years now. That will be my next project as I am starting the search for one.

Bernie's 66 Chevelle has a very, very expensive aftermarket 400+ inch block, aluminum heads and a small fortune in his car. I don't know aftermaket chevy's at all but he says he can dial in upwards of 1500 horsepower into it safely. His trans and rear end are done also so it should go.

Anyway I will post what we run when we run.
I just did a complete top end with a new turbo and will fire it off this week after I get the new oil cooler and radiator installed. I am also going to do the recomendations to the suspension Artie suggested and spend a couple of weeks at test and tune before we line up. I would really like to make my fastest pass ever (I want 10's and then I'll be happy) when we do line up.
I don't think there is really and more MPH in her as the injectors are at their max duty cycle as my O-2 volts start dropping off about 50 yards before the traps.
