"Gold" GS emblem for Riv GS?

Someone was looking for one of these I thought... Not mine..

Weren't those for the Riv GS??

 

74 and 75 Riv's.Not sure if the 73's had gold or red.

 

Rob (75Riv) was looking for them a few years ago when he had new paint on his 75 GS.

1973 GS Rivs also had those colored emblems

 

were they optional?guess i need to pay more attention at the car shows.then again i dont recall seeing a lot of mid 70's gs rivs either.hooray,buick lesson of the day for me!!:Smarty:

 

I pulled a couple of these from a '74 Riv GS and thought the red had just faded to that colour. Learned something new.......

Is the emblem itself different, or is it just the paint?

They are definetly the thicker version, and I believe just the Gold paint, not sure about the mounting studs? o No:

 

only the color and part# differs, studs are the same.
73-75 Rivieras had the "gold" GS fender emblems. Already have a NOS set laying around, but due to the paint color of the car (Honey Gold) I preferred the red ones.
