Going to the DYNO, Should I run CAM 2?

I'll be running the car on the Dyno on Saturday, I want to make more power then last year. I swapped a 5 speed into the car instead of the 2004r I had in it last time it was strapped to the dyno, so i should see some improvement from that alone. Should I throw 5 or 6 gallons of CAM 2 into the tank to boost the Octane up? I was going to do that and gap the plugs a little wider. I'm running a MSD 6AL, so I should be able to go .055 on the plugs. they are at .040 now.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

All depends on your Compression Ratio - @ 10:1, when I put about 10 gals of 116 race gas in my GS it actually slowed down and ran noticably worse at the track.

The main thing is not to run Lean. Make sure the Dyno operator is monitoring the A/F ratio closely on the first run and Shuts down the run if it gets too lean. I've heard alot of Dyno operators fatten you up before the first run just to be safe and baseline it from there.

Interesting. maybe I'll throw some 93 in and a few gallons of Cam 2. I don't want to lean it out. I had it on the dyno last year and the a/f was at about 13 all the way across. I'll be curious to see where it is this year. For some reason, the car smells rich at idle. I can't figure out why.

Just my 2 cents worth but I went to a spark plug seminar and the general rule according to the plug expert was to narrow the gap when you add power and also go colder!!! So I would set the gap at 32 and go colder range by 2. The guy who ran the seminar was the main guy for NGK and has worked with a lot of race teams... It made sence to me and I did the same to my 455 and picked up 1-10th with no other tuning

Your car will want a different tune-up for race gas verses pump gas and you can deffinatly over octane the car. For example I have some compression in my engine and only use race gas, my car runs the best a 31 degress of timing. Good luck.
