Well, as ready as I thought I was for Salem, I discovered that I have a nice sized PRESSURIZED oil leak. I have to drop the trans to fix it!

When I swapped transmissions a few weeks back, I replaced a copper and brass fitting oil bypass line (the one that goes from the oil pressure sender hole to the passenger side lifter gallery plug at the back of the block). I plumbed the darn thing with braided stainless and AN- fittings throughout. Now it's leaking somewhere back there. No way to get to it without dropping the trans and removing the flexplate.

Will be towing to Cleveland Weds. morning, and using my friend's lift to hopefully make this a quick and painless exercise. I should be at the track Thursday hopefully.

Any one else doing any last minute BS that they should have taken care of by now? Make me feel like I'm in good company, please. Don't everybody chime in all at once....

    Ha.. if you only knew..

Just dyno'ed the last of the 5 engines that I built in the last 15 days this afternoon.. One will be racing in a doorslammer in Super Comp at the NHRA nationals in Brainerd this weekend, one is being installed in the car for delivery at the nats, and two will be delivered on stands at the nats..

The fifth one was the ATI Pro-Charged 494 that went home with the customers about a week and a half ago.

Boy, time flies.. wasn't it just June?

Now I am down to just half a page on the "to do" list before we can load up three trucks and trailers for the trip.

Good news is that the "toy" I get to play with just needs a few odds and ends and it will be ready..

I get one weekend break, and then I have two very pressing projects that have to be done by the end of the month.. then it will calm down a little. Hopefully then I can get back to my normal 80 hr/wk deal..

Been more than a couple nights I caught a few hours on the couch in my office here lately..

Thrash? Of course! Isn't that what everyone does before a major car event. In the past 3 weeks I built my engine, put it in the car, put a rear end together, did some wiring, and some other misc. things. Its been crazy around here. I hope I don't lose my mind before I leave. I even put "Car" on my list of items to bring. See you guys in Salem!

I'm in good company, it seems.

As the day went on at work, I was telling myself more and more, "whaddaya, nuts? Just relax, go and watch; Don't race".

When I got off work, I said "Screw it, I'm loading up to make a go of it". It's hours later and I'm now packed and ready for the trip!

I hope all the thrashin' finds each of you feeling at least a little bit like the pro's in the old drag-racing days. I remember a Cruz Pedregon interview in National Dragster about 10 years ago where he told a story about how his dad one night was working on the car as it was being trailered with his mom driving just so they could make the show. That's nuts. I love it.

    See you all there.

After a 10 hour tow, and dinner at my parent's, we pulled the trans, fixed the leak, and put it back together. Man, what a day. I can't hold a candle to Jim though!
