Could somebody tell me how the glovebox liner is installed? Is the bottom edge tucked in between the door hinge or is it mounted above so the egde is exposed? Also are all the screws the same or is the two that hold the hinge different? Thanks, Gary

Gary, I think there are at least two different types of screws used in installation. The assembly manual shows proper instalation and gives screw part #s so you can see differences. I can check mine later if someone does not beat me to it.

That would be great Dave. I have not got around to getting my manual yet.I have the screws that hold the liner in at the top and sides. Realyy want to know if the bottom ones are the same too. Then there are 2 screws that actually hold the hinge on the door itself.

    Thanks, Gary

my assembly manual showed 9 screws that appear to be al the same no individual part numbers listed...4 across the top one on each side 3 across the bottom, the way the picture shows the 3 screws across the bottom go between 2 indents one on each side i believe thats where the 2 screws for the door go...good luck i can send you a pic of the manual page if you'd like

    Rich,

Thanks for the help. I think i have the type of screws figured out. I had Dave look at the assembly manual but is hard to see exactly how the bottom of the liner is mounted. I thoght maybe it goes down in the channel, but then there would not be any way to secure it with the screws. Dave says that his car is sandwiched between the hinge and the car itself. I would like to have somebody else double check there car just to double check. Thanks, Gary

i kinda went through this a few weeks ago myself when i installed my radio i had taken the liner out since my liner has seen better days i just installed as many screws as i could and tucked the bottom under the lip when i find a better liner i put it the right way i wondered if it would be easier to install the door (with liner tucked under the metal lip)fasten the 2 hinge screws and then making sure the remaining screws thread into the inserts (really hard to type and explain at the same time..LOL)....good luck

    Glovebox question?

Still hoping somebody can tell me how the bottom of the cardboard liner is installed? I checked my parts car and the cardboard liner bottom was exposed. I looked at the hinge part of the door itself and did not see any screw marks. That kind of tells me that the screws held down the cardboard liner on top of the hinge. I am hoping somebody out there has the answer!!
Maybe this is just a really dumb question??

    Thanks, Gary

Gary, maybe that is the way it goes and I have mine wrong but it looks good. Anyway the assembly manual also shows shome clip type nuts that go into the mix somehow. Do you have those? I may just have to take mine apart now because I am real curious as I now I ran into this before but just decided on this for some reason.

    Glovebox question?

    Dave,

I have 3 clips in the middle section, those line up with the liner. Then i have the 2 on the ends which are for the hinge. I could install it so that it is inbetween the frame and the hinge, but then i would have a gap between the frame and hinge (the thickness of the liner), for the end screws.

Don't know if that makes any sense.

    Glove box question?

    Dave,

I asked Rich this same question. Do you have 5 screws holding down the hinge or just the 2 end ones? I am thinking that maybe i am supposed to screw down the liner first with the 3 middle clips(nuts) and the screw the hinge over that with the 2 end clips(nuts)

Gary, I will have to take a closer look but I will also call someone who has taken alot of these cars apart and usually has one in his garage that he is working on for someone. I will let you know.

Gary, I took mine apart and I think then way it goes has to be all top and side screws go behind the metal and the bottom center three screws go into the box first then into the hindge and nuts. The outer two lower screw that I think are smaller diameter head just fit into the cut out notches. Pretty obvious now that I look at it. Still waiting to talk to someone I know will know.
