Hey, After driving modern cars with the wide steering wheels, I find my original sport wheel in the '71 GS aggravating. I like the Comfort Grip wheel like on 70 GSX models, but don't think the black would match my interior as well as the tan one I have. Then I see this wheel offered for sale. Does anyone know anything about this design? It appears to have a big grip like the Comfort Grips. Or, is it just a distorted pic?
It looks like a regular 15" 71 on up wheel to me. The only wheels, from our years, that came with thick grips were GSX/Nova Yenko 3-spoke and the 442/Cutlass 4-spoke wheels. Duane
For a driver I'd say grab it . You'd have the correct color and possibly a little thicker wheel . :Brow: :TU:
Thanks. It may be the same diameter as the one I already have. I do like the Cutlass 442 wheels much better than mine. They feel perfect, but will not look correct at all with 4 spokes. I can't even find a decent steering wheel cover for it to make it a little thicker. Everything now are those crazy molded covers that are huge!
John, I repro the 70 GSX wheels and could make you one in any color you want. The only problem would be the cost. It would be very expensive to make up a batch of the colored material, make one wheel, and then throw out the rest of the material. Duane There are places that leather wrap wheels, why don't you try to find one of them?
One option you may consider is either using a late 70's Regal leather wrapped wheel (which obviously won't look stock), or Oldsmobile used a thick padded 3 spoke wheel in 78-82 Cutlasses and Toronadoes that has a somewhat similar spoke design. Or there's also something like this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7920122329&category=33704
