Getting serious about putting stock manifolds on my 350. I read a bunch of posts recently about types of gaskets and/or some kind of snot...

Right now I have el-cheapo headers that were on the car when I bought it. I cant get them to seal and hate the ticky sound they make. I want a really quite engine and all the rumble to come out through the n25.

I will have the stock manifolds machined and am looking for a concensus on the gaskets. Stock type? Tin side in? out? use a gasket sealant on them? Is there a way to make my own gaskets?

Of course, I'll also listen to arguments to keep the headers or get a new set. The ones on the car have no paint left and just look like a rust color and they have dents in the bottom bends from striking the ground at some point in their life.

    what to do ?

Well, they came w/o gaskets from the factory... If you have the surfaces machined, I've seen recommendations to go without gaskets.

You have to be kidding me!! I never thought for a second they would have come like that.

I guess it doesnt cost anything to try that... since I could alwasy add the gaskets after. :Do No:

David is right , they came without gaskets. port match them to your heads, go to bigger pipes with the same size inlets and outlets on the muffs and I dont think you will notice a lot of difference in performance.
