The guy from the machine shop gave me a call today. Block must be redrilled for larger pistons and if i got him right, the crank is 0.06 under standard. Not sure but that means i need another crank, right?
Or does it work with 0.03 bearings and 0.03 clearance?

Will drive to the machine shop tomorrow and note all the measurements they can give me.

EDIT: Dumb idea. I will reply after getting the measurements. Something must be wrong with the sizes. Crankshaft Journal to Bearing Clearance .0005-.0025 and absolut max. 0,0036 from what i read out of the service manual.

Yep, i already had an email conversation to russ. Nice guy and he gave a lot of valuable advices. He said its no problem to reuse the OEM pistons (good ones) in a street engine but i have to check cylinder wear out. Satus quo seems to be redrilling of the cylinders and maybe a new crank. The original crank seems to be too far down for .030 main bearings. New pistons then for sure. I have to talk to the machinist about the crank.

Far be it for me to argue with the Martins, they've done more Nailheads successfully than I ever will. But overbore aside, it seems to me that good OEM pistons became bad ones at some point of every Nailhead's original configuration, and no one knew which ones it would be. Glad your planning on new pistons.

EGGE PISTONS ARE JUNK!!!!!! They are heavy, look like hell, and no where near stock compression. After the CC process we had to cut 0.40 off the deck of the block to get 9.7:1, then the valves hit!!! Had to fly cut the hell out of them to clear... You'll be better off spending the money on a good set of pistons. Whether they're Tom's, or JE. I know JE wanted $650 for a set with pro seal rings. And damn it I should've spent the money.

I picked the whole stuff from the machine shop yesterday without any progress made. I need a new crank because of wear out. Do someone know how much i have to spend for a crank from russ or another place? Just to have a relation. I will search in germany first.
