I have seen a few threads discussing this problem, typically being either a need for the alternator to get checked or there being a grounding problem. The situation I had last night may have been different. Never has happened before Seemed to begin after turning on the heater... but this isn't the first time I have used the heater I could keep the gen light off or dimmed if lightly revving the engine when at a stop light (meaning I was having the engine fight the brakes) I may have had a loose battery cable, since tightened, but was still attached enough to start the vehicle yesterday. I am hoping this was the problem, as it is the cheapest and easiest repair I could do. I started her again today and the gen light did not come on. And a wildcard question... everything I see about factory alternators on Buick Electras from 73 say that 63 amps were the norm. Replacement searches show 63 amps. I squinted at my alternator and clearly read 67amps. It appears to be stock. Searches for 67 alternators don't come back with much. Ideas?
