gen light

    i have a problem with the gen light in my 68,it stays lit after i turn off the engine,if i start it and shut if off a few times it goes out.could it be the regulator??

    Unplug it, try shutting it off, and see what happenns. If it goes out every time, try a new regulator.........the contacts may be sticking. :bglasses:

    Should be the regulator happened to me on my 71 Skylark.

    after i shut off the car with the gen light staying on i can unplug the wires from the top of the alt and i hear something drop out and the light gos out,i guess i will try a new regulator.are the aftermarket ones good or should i get a new delco-remy reg??

    The aftermarkets will work. IF you want it to look original get a delco but that should fix it I had this happen a few times.

    I used a new Wells regulator in my car. Works very well.

    thanks for the help,changed out the reg and it works great,no gen light and 14.5volts
