my gen light stays on even with the ignition locked and key out. I replaced a battery in April , and it de-charged it so it will wu\ not take a charge. New battery but light still remains on. Is there a short , I think so . Likely where to look, any clues ? thanks
Take the positive wire off the battery post and put a volt meter in the line from the post to the clamp. Are you reading 12 volts? Sounds like you have a regulator with the "field" points welded together. JMHO... (that battery may be under warranty; dont mention charging issues!) ws
I bet the lock cylinder is turned back Put the key in it and turn untill light is off Cheap lock cylinders My dad's is the same way
my key lock cylinder is kinda jankey. will a bad diode in the alternator show up on a test at the auto parts store ? thanks for all responses.
Yea a bad diode in alternate will cause the light to stay on. But I had to replace voltage regulator for the light to go out.
