I just installed a brand new voltage regulator and my gen light is still staying on after I shut off the car. If I slam the door really hard, it goes off :) What could it be that I'm jarring loose? Maybe I can just fix the source rather than have to slam my door all the time. Thanks for the help.

If you look at a witing diagram, you will see that the alternator light grounds in the regulator, at the brown wire. ANYTHING grounding the light at that point will illuminate the light. It is also possible that the light is being energized by a defective rectifier in the alternator, or a bad connection on the wiring to the fuse block. With the key off, there should be no power to the brown wire, or on the pink wire coming from the ignition, which powers the gauge fuse. Let me know. Ray
