I can’t find anywhere in other threads the factory gears in a 72 350 turbo trans. Trying to figure out best stall torque converter for my Buick. Mild build 350. If anyone can help I sure appreciate it.
2.52, 1.52, 1.00. Not sure how that is going to help you. The most important factors in selecting a torque converter stall speed are the camshaft, engine torque, car weight, and rear gearing. Before you consider an off the shelf converter, have a look here. http://www.v8buick.com/index.php?threads/tsp-9-5-street-strip-converters-lifetime-warrantee.147066/
Hi Larry I called ACC performance and they asked a lot of questions on my car and the only thing I did not know was gearing setup in trans. Maybe they were more concerned if I had a built trans.
All THM350's have the same gearing. Surprised telling them it was a THM350 wasn't sufficient. Unless you are running an OD Trans, 3rd gear is 1:1. Seems I have heard good things about Boss Hog Converters. I'd still check with Jim Weise as well. He knows Buick engines.
I linked you to his Torque Converter thread, http://www.v8buick.com/index.php?threads/tsp-9-5-street-strip-converters-lifetime-warrantee.147066/ http://www.v8buick.com/index.php?members/jim-weise.11/ http://www.trishieldperformance.com/
X2 I have a TSP converter in two cars and the next time I need a converter, I will only be making one phone call! Philip T.
I bet you will be very happy with that purchase, I have nothing but good things to say about Jim's converters.
It's very common to run a 700r modified gear in a th350 2.75 low gear,..jive had several more take off for heavier or underpowered setups
