Gaston's which still has an eye is passing over our house as I type. Flash flood warnings but the winds are not a factor. That is three eye passages for me Hazel, Fran abd Gaston-- and here comes Francis for this weekend as perhaps a Cat 5. Looks like a sure bet that someone in the US is going to recieve Francis.
Jim - I dont know If you've been through a Cat-5 or not.....but I have. My advice if its coming direct at you is to RUN AWAY !! There's a time to stay....and a time to go. for me, Cat5 = RUN !!! Be Safe, Bud
Bonnie, Charley, Gaston, and next may be Francis!!!!!!!!!!!!! Man I'm tired of hurricane season already. I didn't use to pay attention to these storms but now with a family and 3 Buicks I try to stay a little more heads up. Not much here from Gaston. Minor wind and little rain. It went west of us and since we live downstream of Raliegh our rivers will rise and then Francis can add to that. I hope that this next one stays out at sea.
got wind and heavy raim here, we got the eye at about 5:00 or 6:00 am, I went to bed around 4:00(was watching the F1 race) I sure hope Francis misses us!
Been hit by two Cat 3 tropical cyclones 100+ miles inland and you cannot believe the impact the eye can have. If Cat 5 ever hits we are going to see something unprecedented. I think Camille was a Cat 4 and so was the 1935 storm that hit the Keys. If you remember it removed the rail road to the keys .
All fo the bad weather talk makes me miss the tornadoes back home in KS. San Diego has only one weather pattern. nice in the winter but I like 4 seasons. Anyway stay safe and don't take any chances. Save the car at all costs.:bglasses:
My house was smack in the middle on hurricane Andrew. I can unequivacally state that I know what 180-200 mph cyclones are all about.... JH
