I did an oil change today. The engine has always run very smooth in this car. After I changed the oil, I went to look for leaks and stuff like that. I looked under the car with the engine running and noticed a little dripping right in front of the oil pan. It wasn't a constant thing, just every so often. I put my hand under to see if it was oil, and it was gas. I never have noticed the problem before.

After I noticed this, I had someone come out and rev the engine a little bit to see if the dripping increased as the throttle was opened. The dripping didn't increase with the throttle. When I shut the car off however, the engine dieseled for about 2 seconds. It has NEVER EVER done this before, and I am wondering if I may have bumped something, or if something just broke. Any suggestions? THanks

The dieseling means your valves are not dispersing the heat to the head or the valve overlap is to small. Or you have bits of metal etc. in the cylinder, glowing hot orange which then ignites the fuel/air mixture before the intake closes and the spark plug fires. Causing two flame fronts to collide.
Not sure where the fuel could be leaking from except the obvious, carb./fuel line. Goodluck and hope this helps. :TU:

I had the car off for a while, so the engine was cold. So I gave it full choke when I started it and I was thinking that maybe the extra fuel was causing the car to diesel. The gas seems to have dissapeared also. It only lasted about 10 minutes and the dieseling seemes to have went away with it. All I did was leave the car running for a while and fill the tanks with gas. Thanks for the help though.

Your deiseling could have come from the short run you gave the engine while checking for leaks. If the choke was on, you were running a rich mixture. When you shut the engine down under this senerio you'll get deiseling.
