Hey guys, I am on the road, and need some assistance. Here is some backround: 1963 Buick riviera, 401 engine. I installed a aftermarket electronic fuel pump (generic for GM v8's from autozone, pepboys, advanced auto, etc.) right near the gas tank (definitely within 12 inches). I do have the return line connected with the proper fuel filter (1 inlet, 2 outlet). This is the first time that i am taking the car on a long trip on the interstate (90 mile trip from NYC to PA). The issue: the tank has to be completely full for the car to not hesistate, hickup, run rough, almost cut off, etc. I filled the tank, and drove about 30-40 miles before experiencing the issues listed above. When I make it to a gas station, and add only $15-20 worth of gas (indicating that there is still approx. half a tank of gas still there, the issue goes away. This first time, i made it a few miles before a rest stop, the second instance was a bit more scarier when a rest stop was nowhere close and the car was near stalling/cutting off. Any ideas? Thanks, Ryan 516-330-2963
What not use the correct pump? Was it doing anything like this before the new pump was installed? Have you looked inside the take for rust?
