I'm getting ready to do some wiring in my garage. I am going to do rough wiring myself and have my electrician do the rest. I do have a few questions though. Its a 2 bay garage, 2 cars deep. I have 8 high output 8 foot flourescent light fixtures I was going to do 4 fixtures on each side of the garage. How many of these can I put on one circuit? I want to put the 4 left lights on one switch and the 4 right fixtures on another switch. Would I need 2 circuits for the lights and would they have to be 15 or 20 amp circuits? Next question is on outlets. I'm planning on 2 sets of 4 outlets per wall. I would do a square box with 2 outlets(total of 4 plugs per box). How many outlets can I have on one circuit. I was thinking the outlets would be on a 20 amp circuit. I will have separate circuits for the compressor and lift and attic lights and heater. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks Bob
Bob, 8 lights per 20amp breaker with 12 gauge wire. Standard residential fixture. 6 outlets per 20 amp with 12 guage wire. Hope this helps.
