I'm guessing this doesn't work, for front or rear, since I've only seen posts about the F-bodies. Is this true?
    Thanks,

    True...

A bodys are wider than the G bodys... something like 1in on each side or so. :Do No:

I think it might work on the rear, not sure, but measuring between the rear control arms should confirm it. The fronts are different. I have a Herb Adams 1 1/2" rear bar on my Stage1, and I believe the A and G body took the same part # when I ordered it long ago.

Yup, found the catalog from Herb Adams sway bars (BTW, they don't make these anymore) Part # 86515 rear bar fits 64-72, and 78-83(78-87 actually)

I have used many G body rear bars on my A body cars I use the early straight ones as they look better. But the front of the bar is narrower than the A body bar, you can either space it out of tighten them down to pre load them. If you tighten them down they will probably break, not all will, but some do if you want pic's just ask and I can post one of how it looks

you do not boix the lower arms if you use the G body bar use the spacers that come witn it

Use the 70-81 Trans Am front 1.25" sway bar and you can buy new rear bars from any A-body supplier. You will have to box your rear lower arms when installing the rear bar.

Thanks for the replies guys. I've been offered a rear sway bar off a GN for $35.00. I need one for my '71 GS that already has boxed lowers. Does that sound reasonable? Is that one of the "break-prone" bars?
    Thanks,
    Tim

It is worth the money to purchase a new rear sway from Poston- T/A or Year one etc. NOT STRESSED OUT ALREADY. When the front and rear are right, it is like having sticky glue on the road.

Does having a 12 bolt rear end would affect the fit of a stock replacement 7/8" or 1" sway bar, or is it a non-issue?
    Thanks,
    Tim

If the 12 bolt is the same overall width of the 8.2 or 8.5 it is replacing there is no problem at all.
