    Hi everyone,

Here some updated pics of my 1971 Skylark with some GSX appearance items. I just recently had the 15x7 rims with 245/60/15 tires added. The custom painted front grill is new, the correct 71 ram air grills are new, and I also just had the black GSX striping outlined in light sandalwood to match the interior.

Still have a few more items sitting in my basement to add including bucket seats (with optional console for column auto shift cars) and a front spoiler (which will be painted in Burnished Cinamon to match the car).

I'm hoping to have the car complete sometime in 2007.

    Thanks guys!

    Thanks guys!

This weekend I hope to change the rear package tray to one with predrilled speaker holes that I got from year one. I was also toying with the idea of getting the windows tinted to give the car a meaner look - but I really haven't seen any 70-72 Buick Skylark/GS with tinted windows. Is this a bad idea?

A few people here have tinted windows. I've never been a fan of tinted windows on Muscle Cars.

Fantastic Chris, and unique. I vote no on the tint, too.

Chris, that looks great! Great colour combo!

Personally, I would side with Eric... I'm not a fan of tinted windows on classics. My vote (if you're asking?) would be to keep the windows clear. :)

    Chris,
Great looking ride. My'71 Skylark has tinted windows. 43337 Plain Jane car but it came with AC. Don't quote me as I'm not sure that AC cars had tinted windows as part of the package. It was sold new in Texas which may also be a reason for the tint. I'm not sure. Leave yours as is, looks great.

    No tint

    Hi guys,

Thanks for the input on the tinted windows - I decided not to tint them as you all mentioned. Has anyone here changed a rear package tray? I'm hoping I can remove the worn original easily and put in the new one without pulling out the back seat.

Interesting color choice, and nice to see how clean your keeping the lines,

my 70 gs conv has a white top and was originally butternut yellow :( with a

brown interior... not sure what they were after but, painted mine blazing copper with a bright pink primer which really lighten's the copper, keep the glass clear and keep up the pic's.

    Chris,
Recommend pulling the backseat as the tray has a vinyl edge with a flap that gets tucked behind the seat. I put the same tray in mine & it was interesting...fit...cut..fit.cut...fit. Take your time with it.

    against the grain

I vote for tinting the windows, but with a light shade. I don't like limo black on muscle cars but a light grey doesn't look tinted it just makes the windows more reflective and just a bit sinister.

My Acura has a light copper tint from the factory that's very nice and would go great with your color combo.

Pull the back seat and save yourself a lot of headach . When you first described the outline stripe color, I thought no way, but after looking at it and the car color ,looks real good . not too many color choices.

    Outine color

    >>Notice how the light sandalwood outline color is against the black GSX stripe and does not have the gap like the regular red outline color of a GSX. When I was talking with the pinstriper about the car I was originally thinking about doing the outline in gold - but when he mentioned doing the outline in the same color as the interior to match the car I really liked the idea. Also, the outline color right against the black GSX striping made them stand out more against the exterior color of burnished cinamon.

I guess that I'll pull the back seat out as it sounds much easier that way - definitely looks like there will be a bit of cutting the new tray - I also have to cut a hole for the rear defroster.
