Howdy, Anyone know how a full sized Buick of 60's vintage with a floor shifter and a bench seat looks? I think Wild Bill had one at one time but I'm wondering how to make putting the shifter through the floor of the soon to be mine 61 wagon and make it look right. I'm not putting a stick in it, just a TH200-4R auto so the stock collumn mounted shifter for the dynaflush won't cut it. thanks,
I think I've seen that on a car on ebay a while back, but why not just put in buckets and a full lenght shifter console? I think that'd look really cool in an old wagon. Sorry I can't help other than my opinion!
mostly because the seat covers in the car are brand new, in fact most of them aren't even installed yet. I'd hate to either get them cut up to match the rest of the car on Riviera frames or get something that doesn't match in there. I was originally going to go for buckets, in fact already had the 64 Wildcat console and shifter on que to be paid for then I saw the seat covers..... cherry! This car is going retro with a long arm shifter out the floor.
Have a look at this thread, there are a few 4 speeds with bucket and bench seats pictured. http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=61040
Bingo, that is the thread I was looking for with no success. Though how often down one of those shifter boxes come up? Hmmmm.... like never. Guess I need to keep thinking. Thanks,
show me what you are talking about for a later mini console. I was thinking basically shift boot, indicator and a pair of cup holders in front of it if I did something custom.
You could probably custom make a console without too much difficulty, plus it'll be cool cos it's your own personal touch, you know? You could also then add other stuff into the console, like a radio or gauges or whatever.
agreed that would be trick. Do you think I should make it out of an existing console hacked and fiberglassed or start from scratch with a wood and metal frame and integrate premade cup holders into a fiberglass skin? Thanks,

I'd just start from scratch with a metal frame. That way, your not limited by a premade thing. Plus, if you chop and repair a stock console, it's probably not going to look too stock anymore anyhow. You can make it out of something other than fiberglass too. A wood console would look pretty nice too, just a little more work. :TU:
