    Hey all,

Wondering about everyones opinion on elec. fuel pumps. I currently have a holley blue on my car and today it started making some funky noises. May be headed south don't know, but wanna stay on top of it. It just sounded wrong for some reason, rougher than normal, but it is working.

Set up is common I guess, cell, 1/2 line, 1000 race demon, 463''. Not sure of HP, went 11.51 at a corrected 4000' spinning on the starting line. 3600# car. bla bla bla..... can forward any more needed info. After some changes to the car, hoping for that 10 sec slip in some good air on a good track.

Blue pump enough ? Too much ? Any help greatly appreciated. Heading to a T&T this upcoming weekend to shake out the cobwebs. Still have a little time to take a backup with me, or change all together. :3gears:

    Thanks......................

Dave, Everybody has their own opinion on this subject, so......I'll post what has been working for me. Fuel cell--#10 line to filter--thru to Holley Blue pump--#8 braided line to Holley regulator(mounted up front on roll cage bar)--2, #6 lines to Holley 850 carb., Would something else work better, maybe(probably), but this system has went 10:46 @ 125 mph, (on pump gas) & given me NO TROUBLE FOR 4 YEARS NOW! Fuel pressure gauge shows about 9 1/2lbs. (picked up at rear fuel bowl) going thru the traps at 6,200rpms. If/When my pump gives up I may "upgrade" but unless you enjoy overkill I'll stick with my SIMPLE fuel system. Hope this doesn't confuse you even more!

    Thanks John,

My set up now is cell, #8 to filter, then to pump, then 1/2 aluminum to holley reg., then #8 to race demon through a braided log basically. I had heard that splitting the lines at the regulater could cause fuel consistancy issues. Opinion ??? Pressure is set at 7.5 #'s out of the regulator, and stays pretty close to that throughout. I can't complain I guess about the function of the system as I have never had any problems.

Just wondering I guess about what happens when a blue pump dies. Does it go all at once ? Will I see sparatic(sp) fuel readings at times ? Does it just fall off slowly ? Just some questions I have had since hearing things. I pured a couple gallons more in the cell and it seemed to shut up again. Dunno...............Have to see what happens this weekend I guess. Thanks I appreciate it.

    later.............

Even though I like overkill......I share this with you.
I've seen countless people(Myself included) that think they have a deficiencey in their fuel system go through and upgrade the parts only to pick up nothing.
It also seems to me,The faster you go,The better the car is on gas.
Look elsewhere for ET gains unless something in the fuel system actually goes bad.

    Gary,

Thanks for the reply man I appreciate it. Performace gains had nothing to do with my post(i should choose my words better, lol). I was more worried about the pump and this weird noise that I am getting, so I figured while I was posting I would toss out the ''is this system ok'' thing too. Anyways.....I thought maybe someone recently may have had a blue pump die and could tell me if I had bad things coming. With all the changes I am trying to get accomplished, I wanna get that 10 sec. slip. And it would be just my luck to hit the track on a great raceday(air&traction) and have the pump or some little & stupid like that kill me.

    Thanks.
