This started out to be a simple water pump replacement then I decided to change timing gear & chain. All went good until I cracked loose the bolt that retains the fuel pump eccentric onto the cam shaft. As soon as I cracked the bolt loose the fuel pump eccentric spun around on the eccentric pin that is in the hole in the gear. The snout of the cam shaft is not protuding out of the cam gear, it is just about flush. New gear & old gear hubs are the same thickness. Looking at the pin on the eccentric it appears that it had been moving in the hole in the gear. Also the woodruff key in the cam shaft is flush with the end of the cam shaft and does not go into the eccentric. Could this always have been like this? Or has the cam walked inward? Engine ran fine prior to the water pump leaking. This "66 425 has 53,000 original miles. Any ideas what to do about the eccentric?:  John
