I have a set of 4 WG wheels for sale. 2 of them are in good shape with minor wear, one is wearing thin on the chrome and the fourth is thin on chrome and some chipping of the chrome has started around the bead seat. I spent the time to aluminum oxide blast these and repainted the centers. They would make good street wheels or good for rechroming. I do not have the centers. I would like $400 plus shipping for the set but am open to offers too. Thank you John
John. The dates are stamped in the rim on the back side of the wheel near the WG or 7.0 stamp. See the links below. One pic shows an early wheel with a 7.0 stamp and a date code of December 11 1969. The second pic shows a later wheel with a WG stamp, and a date code of March 31 1970. The earliest date I have personally seen on a WG wheel is February 20 1970. The latest date I have personally seen on a 7.0 stamped wheel is January 14 1970. They seemed to make a batch more often than this however, so I am not certain of the exact date of the change. It did correspond with the launch of the GSX cars, so I suspect it was sometime in February 1970. Early 70 Wheel Late 70 Wheel I am looking for wheels dated 4 2, and 4 9.
